Re: TFcon 2013 3rd party not-TF toys discussion thread.
My 2 cents:
Personally,I'd rather spend tripple/Quadrupple prices on NEW MOLDS not-TF 3rd party toys INSTEAD of spending Tripple/Quadrupple prices on Botcon REPAINTS.
BTS: I feel they hit a huge home run with their Not-Overlord,this thing is gonna be epic & no doubt in the top list of best 3rd party Not-TF toys ever created list. not a fan of the Blaster Walkie talkie nor the transforming energon cubes. That cancelled huge G-1 Fort max looked decent in all modes.
Mastermind Creations I feel hit a ton of home runs last year & this year. Their not-Sixshot & Not-Predacons are beyond home runs their grand slams---->These are all epic,They blow anything out of the water Hasbro has ever created. Their Not-Perceptor is bigger & better than the KFC Not-Perceptor. While,I'm not a fan of radical homages for 1980's TF toys/Media,I thought the Hearts of Steele Not-Shockwave was a decent radical homage toy.
FANPROJECTS 2013 TFCON Reveals: I love the not-Stunticons/Menasor. I Think the Not-Quickswitch looks decent but i'll probably like it a bit better in the MasterForce SixKnight colors. Not-Roadbuster looks terrible in both both. Not a fan of the non-TF themed 3RD party stuff like the Glacial bots & Steele core. I thought Not Springer was decent but the 30th version is better. Not-Broadside looks beyond awful in all modes. the Not-Rodimus & Not-Ultra Magnus trailer/armors,I thought were home runs. The Not-Energon Swindle & Blastoff combaticons were epic awesome.
FANPROJECTS: Function-X Deluxe sized Not-Headmasters,Not-Chromedome,Not-Weirdwolf,Not-Mindwipe,Not-Brainstorm. Personally While I crave newer homage molds for all the 1987 Headmasters--->These Function-X Not-Headmasters look too awful,Too small,Too under sculpted,Too fragile for my preferences. Clearly the Toyworld Not-headmasters are bigger & look better than the Function-X toys. The 1987 Headmasters were double the sized of the 1984 Transformers,So I feel they deserve voyager sized homage newer molds not deluxe sized homage newer molds.
MAKETOYS: 2012 Giant was pure awesome. Not-Technobots/Computron looks decent in all modes shown. Those Battle tankers trailer/armor for the RTS Optimus mold,I think looks awful & it adds no height to the figure,so whats the point. I'm not a fan of the Super tiny TF toys/characters,so creating not-legends sized Not-TF toys seems like a WASTE.
PERFECT EFFECT: IDW Fort Max. I'm not a fan of radical update homages based off the G-1 1980's TF toys/Media designs. I dis-like the IDW TF comics. So no doubt,I'd dislike this IDW not-Fort Max toy. I feel this company has more misses than hits,Their 3rd party not soundwave minions for the classics not-City Commander are EPIC awful,as they don't homage anything from G-1 & Are so fragile they break too easily in a adult fans hands.
EchoTF:- will be making Fall of Cybertron Bruticus Kits. I don't see the point of these,As the Foc Combaticons were heavily flawed sculpted designed ugly colored toys. These combiner add-on pieces look terrible & not that many add-on parts.
Unnamed Company - making Voyager size Skyfire. What's the point of this? Hasbro already created a beyond decent cartoon accurate Classics 1.0 Jetfire toy. For those who want a new mold homage based off the 1980's Jetfire/Robotech toy designs,Their are all those Masterpiece Robotech Valkyries toys.
Keith's Fantasy Club: This company might hit a huge home run if their upcoming Not-Skybyte & Not-Captain shark toys are done at the bigger voyager or 8 inch Ultra size scale-->If their done at the deluxe size scale then they'll be less Epic. I've never been a fan of any of the 1980's TF cassettes-bots,So i'm not interested in not-cassettes-bots. The Deluxe sized not-perceptor looks decent BUT IT'S TOO SMALL/Wrong size scale--->The 1985 Perceptor toy was Voyager sized,So,I feel any newer homage mold for Perceptor should be Voyager sized.
X-TRANSBOTS: I'm not a fan of the liscensed super tiny Legends/Basics/Mincons sized Hasbro TF toys. So naturally I'm even less interested in not-super tiny TF toys.
Renderform - Nothing new to show. I feel this company in the past years,Has created some decent homages parts & accessories like better homage heads & weapons/accessories. My favorite was the 2.0 Universe TRU Dreadwing head & weapons set.
HEADROBOTS:- Iguana is next - finally,- Doing an Apeface head. Rumors abound this company might be doing a full sized tripple changer figure for Apeface,If this is done at the Voyager or 8 inch Ultra Size scale this will be a home run toy. While I think all the Not-headmasters heads are super cool & well done---These are not my cup of tea since I'm only 27 years old & don't Own any 1980's G-1 TF toys to place the transforming heads on the 1987/1988 TF headmasters toys bodies.
MAYHEM MECHANIX & ORI TOYS: I feel are going are making huge mistakes in creating 3rd party toys that don't homage any older TF toys/media. At the very least if their not going to homage any older TF toys/Media,then at least try to homage other extremely popular robots toy lines. Sure a handful of TF fans might buy these but the Majority of TF fans won't--->This equals epic sales failure/doom.
Personally if a 3rd party company wants to create toys not based in the TF universe. Then at least create some stuff based off popular robot toy lines TF fans or other fans like. Create some not-brave toys that homage Takara's 1990's brave toy line. Create some Not-Voltron toys with individual robot modes & a super poseable robot Voltron gestalt. Tomy Not-Zoids that are super poseable & can transform into robot modes. Some TF Cross-overs not-Thundercats,Not-Star trek,etc..
Personally,I'd rather spend tripple/Quadrupple prices on NEW MOLDS not-TF 3rd party toys INSTEAD of spending Tripple/Quadrupple prices on Botcon REPAINTS.
