TFv questions for Hasbro at Botcon & SDCC

Post by JediTricks »

Ok, so it looks like I'm going, as long as this asthmatic lung infection doesn't get any worse. I have the laptop, camera, omni-bounce, monopod, cellphone for interview recording, a full tank of gas in the new-to-me car, the Botcon '11 ballcap, so now I just need questions. I'm expecting to hit Botcon on Saturday, and Comic-Con is July 17th through the 21st.

Keep in mind, I'm not going to ask specific stuff like "why don't you make X" unless they are an exemplar of a greater issue to the brand, so I'm not as likely to ask "will you make Masterpiece Warpath" where I would be more likely to ask "will you be releasing Takara Prime Breakdown, for example, and if not, why?". (Damn, now I want a Masterpiece Warpath.)

Here are some ideas already...
  1. Metroplex, why stickers?
  2. What is happening with the Takara Masterpiece Autobot cars for US distribution?
  3. Do you have input on the Masterpiece Transformers cars that Takara is releasing overseas?
  4. Will some of the Japan-only TF Prime toys (Voyager Breakdown, Gaia Unicron, Deluxe jet Vehicon) be getting released over here, perhaps as a store exclusive?
  5. Generations Voyager Blaster and Grimlock re-releases in the mainline?
  6. Takara polled fans to decide between a certain range of characters for their next Masterpiece, might Hasbro do a similar poll of US fans for the 30th anniversary?
Suggest your own, and voice your support for questions.

Given Takara announced a poll to vote for a 30th Anniversary Masterpiece figure not long ago, I've been wondering... Is Hasbro planning anything for the 30th Anniversary as well?

We already had a regular figure poll for the 30th anniversary. How would yours be different, deciding on an existing character for MP?

Wasn't that poll to create a brand new character? I didn't really mean holding another poll, but yeah, I'm talking about existing characters. Like for the 20th Anniversary, they created the first MP version of Optimus, and we know Taraka is doing a poll for a 30th Anniversary MP figure. Is Hasbro going to release a 30th Anniversary figure like those? Or maybe re-issue something, like the G1 Optimus they did for the 25th Anniversary?

I agree; I think it's time for another reissue that isn't SDCC-exclusive. I, for one, would love another shot at Ultra Magnus. (It would make me feel less bad about wanting to repaint the G1 one I have as Powered Convoy.)

Failing that, they could also reissue Classics Prime and Megs (perhaps in new decos) in a two-pack as some store exclusive or other and give people another shot at those moulds. (It's been seven years!)

Also, I know it's unlikely but I'd really like to know if Blaster and Grimlock are ever going to pop up again in a revision case, considering they go for twice their release price on the secondary market. (I am really pissed about both of these.)

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Well apparently Hasbro has a G1 Predaking reissue box set on display at Botcon that will be released as a part of the 30th Anniversary celebration, so I guess that answers that question... Also, Woo! G1 Predaking box set!!!

Hasbro didn't have time to answer any TF toy brand Q & A questions at botcon 2013. This makes no sense,Since Hasbro & it's employees are their at botcon for the whole week, couldn't they extend the time on the panel or answer the TF TOY brand Q & A in another panel.

SDCC & NYCC,Hasbro will most likely answer the TF toy brand Q & A questions from the attendees. most likely more TF toys/media reveals will get revealed as these cons get more media coverage.

Hasbro burned a lot of panel time on joking around, then invited folks to do Q&A in person in the booth instead. It was a bit of a letdown.

We should generate some questions for SDCC just in case though.

Also, I know it's unlikely but I'd really like to know if Blaster and Grimlock are ever going to pop up again in a revision case, considering they go for twice their release price on the secondary market. (I am really pissed about both of these.)
Grimlock is getting a re-release in a boxed set with SDCC Bruticus, so probably the mold is not available for the current run. I will try to get that addressed if possible.

I feel like this isn't the sort of thing Hasbro's likely to do, but I guess I could try.

Up until 2 weeks ago,I kept seeing dozens of FOC Grimlock spread across 20 different USA huge retail store chains like Walmart,Target & Kmart.

One time months ago,I went to Target & I saw a whole case of FOC Voyager blaster's on the shelves.

FOC Grimlock,FOC Soundwave & FOC Blaster were not hard to find at my local stores.

If anyone is having trouble finding newer TF toys in stores. Then I suggest you order on-line from HTS or BBTS.com. HTS offers free shipping if you spend a certain limit. BBTS when they offer those bundles of buying 3 or 4 figures in a assortment wave,This is a great deal because it totals out to retail store prices.
