Because Movie Sideswipe is exactly like G1 Sideswipe and should therefore be colored like him? Come on...

I want to make movie Deepcover. :)

Okay, thanks to a trade with Scourge:

-KMart 10 pack Minicons: A good set, though bad distribution might make it harder to find than some are willing to deal with.

-TFU Octane/Tankor: 2 out of 3 modes are duds. The robot mode is fun enough. Maybe worth getting for $10 at most....if you are really looking for a toy and/or like the character.

Dom
-no, Octankor is not worth putting on the shelf, AHM be darned.

No, I just want to see more color in the Bayverse. It seems like an awful lot of the moviebots are grey or lack color and I just wanted to see one that was brightened up a bit. I generally hate it when people do this too, but I'm making an exception for Sideswipe mostly because we have swerve. I would never suggest that the other bots should have been colored like their G1 counterparts.

I'll say I agree with that, but ROTF has actually done a pretty good job of making colourful Autobots. Bumblebee's yellow, Skids is green, Mudflap is orange, the bikegirls are various colours--Sideswipe is the only one who's silver, and actually he looks 'really' good against the others so far. I dunno how Swerve will fit into my display yet, but he looks good so far too.

I, um, I kinda thought about doing this. But only because I like Swerve's head better, but looking at him, I just hate the mold in that shade of red. I don't know what I've got against red all of a sudden.

I'm tempted to get either the Corvette mold or Thrust. I dunno, what do you guys think?

And the trade with Dom brought me most of the Cobra Island Defense set. Lamprey's awesome because he's got a cool underwater armor vibe going. Strato-Viper's an old favorite because they have neat uniforms and helmets, flew my favorite Cobra plane, and got surgerized so they could go faster. That's cool. Gardener B.A.T. is awesome because he's a B.A.T., and he's got neat battle damage going on. The rusted look inside the helmet is a nice touch. Plus, his backpack can hold his spare head and the other B.A.T.'s spare hand. And finally, Doctor Mother Fucking Otto Mindender, DDS. , my favorite character in Cobra. Awesome.

Plus, Dom tossed in Beast Machines Megatron, a toy that I find myself really liking. And a neat-o "Microman" Gamera suit.

Also, some comics, including that recent reprint of "Green Lantern: Rebirth #1". That one, I figure it's gotta be a gag gift.

Annnnd I downloaded Electric Six's new album, but it's okay, I'll buy the proper copy from 'em when they come through town next month. It makes me happy like I was a little girl. :D

I've got Sideswipe and Thrust, and I'd say that Sideswipe just edges out Thrust, in technical terms. More dynamic, more interesting transformation, a bit better in terms of poseability, slightly more interesting gimmicks (though they both kinda lose out in that department). It's close though, in my opinion, and could probably go either way depending on your tastes. I really like Thrust anyway, because, uh, he's Thrust, at least in colors, and the 'cuteness' of the mold appeals to me the same way Swindle from the 2007 line did. Transformation on him is more simple to flick back and forth than Sideswipe too, if that's more what you're looking for. Again, they're really close, though I find I favor Thrust just because of small-scale, personal tastes. Or just because he's newer, hell I dunno.

By all accounts, the red Sideswipe should've been named Road Rage.

At first I was waffling on Thrust for a while, too, because I didn't like the way it looked after a lot of pics, but once I bought him, I fell in love. He's so much more intricately painted and detailed than Sideswipe, his deco really makes the details pop. Not that Sideswipe has a particularly bad deco, just different.

Went to the local Comicon today and dug around in the bargain bins. Came away with a pretty decent haul of Transformer comics that I'd missed, though the pickings were slim. Devastation #4 for $2, and AHM #12, Maximum Dinobots #4, Spotlight Jazz and Spotlight Cliffjumper, all for $1 each. Count the $3 entry fee, and I spent $9 for $20 worth of comics. Not too bad.

I dunno, I really like the contrast between the movie designs and the G1 decos. Some of them (Like, say, Rescue Ratchet, or Soundwave, or Mixmaster) really suck, but the majority have been hella nifty. G1 Moviescream is love, and G1 Jazz is very nice too. A lot of the generic, bland movie designs would really pop with the range of colour and vibrancy that their G1 decos have, and would benefit from being a little more recognisable and iconic.

Swerve there pisses me off, I really want Sideswipe in red (Although I'd prefer him in blue as Tracks), but that new head is total ass, so no sale from me.

Did, however, buy Deluxe Desert Brawl.
It's no secret that I hated original flavour Deluxe Brawl, thanks to his nasty brittle-feeling plastic, boring shades of green, incredibly fragile gimmicking (TRANSLUCENT GEARS. Seriously? Who engineers this crap?), and pop-'n'-go shoulder assembly. Got him secondhand, he broke quickly, got shelved and I try to forget I own him. Thankfully, Hasbro realised they'd screwed him over, and actually retooled him some to fix the issues. Hoo-lee crap does that make a world of difference. He also gets a really nice, varied deco, without the nasty Allspork Bloo that plagued, saaay, the Super Brawl redeco. The shoulder pegs now stay in the slots really tightly, and the translucent gears are opaque and do not break with ease. Finally, the mould is all it should have been, and I find myself loving this toy a lot more than I expected. Go forth and buy! It's much better than most of the other stuff ROTF has to offer. :D

A bit late in posting this, but I picked up the Reissue Insecticons at TRU. I had heard, but forgotten, that Kickback has the pointier wings. My old one has the rounded things on the end. I don't know what all the versions are offhand, maybe the original issue was done both ways, but is this the first instance of a reissue actually being MORE dangerous than the vintage version? An evil little kid could gouge some eyes out with that sucker!
I disappear.
