One Ebay seller has over 176 different Botcon 2013 auctions?

Post by Tigermegatron »

I just find it hard to believe that one Ebay seller could be selling over 176 different Botcon 2013 auctions. where would a seller even manage to get a hold of so many of these in under a 24 hour time period? when their is a set limit of purchases of these at the convention per day. WHAT I FIND REALLY ODD IS HE'S GOT 8 CUSTOM CLASS BLASTCHARGE-STRIKA'S http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=161 ... =200&rt=nc

I'm thinking this ebay seller, might have made multiple auctions by mistakes. perhaps he's not yet aware of these errors.

it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out on ebay. is this a joke? mistake? does he really have 176 botcon 2013 items?

UPDATE: Now their is over 213 Botcon 2013 ebay auction listed by the same singular ebay seller. I thought TFCC/Fun pub put limits on these per day, with the last day being no limits.

It's a business, Almar Enterprises. I would think it would be obvious that they have enough employees to go to Botcon and procure these figures to sell on their ebay store. That's judging by the number of attendee figures they have for sale which you only get if you purchase the box set and actually attend the convention.

I'm convinced this Ebay seller is part of TFCC' owners/crew/staff,As this is the only logical way he could have bought 238 Botcon exclusives on Thurday June 27,then listed them all on ebay on 06/27.

I seriously doubt this ebay seller paid for 238+ attendee Primus packages that cost over $300+ each. I doubt he got 238 people to run around botcon & buy up all the exclusives. This explanation makes no sense,As he'd have to pay for these 238 people's time, travel, gas, food, hotel fees,etc...----> Doing all this would put the guy in the red not the black. -----> Doing all this he'd have to literally charge three to four times the botcon prices on ebay. looking at this sellers 238 botcon 2013 ebay auctions,he's not even charging double per figure,he's barely making a 25% to 35% mark up in profits on ebay.

Your math is off. There's 238 AUCTIONS, that does not equal 238 SETS. The auctions are not for full sets of everything, but individual for the different things being offered (IE: The Rainmakers is one auction by itself, the box set is another auction, etc...). Also, several of those auctions are for the bagged versions of the box set figures which can be ordered separately or purchased at the con, one does not need a Primus package for that. First, look at how many attendee figures he has and that's how many employees he'd have to have with him. Some businesses do this (like BBTS), so that they can offer the at show exclusives for sale on their website.

EDIT: And refining the search further yielded that he only had 17 attendee Starscreams meaning that he/she would have to have at most, 16 employees not including him/herself. A successful online store (like BigBadToyStore) would have no problem having the resources to do this.

I was a TFCC club member for almost 3 years. In order to buy the souvenir add-on figures & the loose bagged figures at the Botcon convention & from the TFCC web site, you need to FIRST pay for $40 for a membership. SECOND you must FIRST buy a box set/Primus Package, then you become eligible to buy the Souvenir add-on & loose box set bagged figures at the convention.

When the TFCC site puts un-sold left overs on their site days later after botcon has ended. TFCC prevents club members from buying the loose box set bagged figures, they must first buy the box set, then they become eligible to buy the loose box set bagged figures.

Regular attendees that pay only $20 to get into botcon on saturday & Sunday, are not allowed to buy any of the convention toys,They have to wait for the last few hours on Sunday when TFCC opens the conventions toys for sale to everyone. EVEN THEN,YOU HAVE TO FIRST PAY $40 IN MEMBERSHIP DUES in order to become eligible to buy any convention or club toys at botcon's con

Then how do you explain the loose sets they're selling?

We were watching booths sending their people into the line over and over, apparently this happened Thursday as well. OTFCC club booth needs to start punching badges or something to keep this from happening.

The sets are stupidly expensive, $100 for the Rainmakers, $90 for Mirage and whoever, and $30 for the Kreons. The only reason to pay $33 a piece for those Rainmakers that I can detect is to sell them, either you're a rabid fanboy who is essentially saying you'll pay ANYTHING for these things, or you're selling some if not all of them. I refused to take part in that, it would have eaten into pretty much every penny I have right now and gotten me nothing in return of value except the ability to make money, which wasn't what I wanted to do. I couldn't front any of you guys the cash if you wanted to pay me back either, that was the only thing that was hard.

Even the con hat was $25, although the beanie was I think $21. Today a buddy tells me they're both $15. I passed on both.

I agree, the prices are pretty ridiculous, even if they're "standard" for what they've been charging for these. (I remember during Dom and I's splitting of his 2010 G2 set, we basically worked it out that any given FunPub toy is about 3x the retail price.)

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I just went to the TFCC/Botcon web site to look up the prices for the box set & the loose bagged box sets. http://www.botcon.com/BotCon2013/San%20 ... ochure.pdf According to the sites brochure info,The 2013 box set cost $365 for club members. the loose bag sets for club members cost $275.

Lets try to calulate how much each botcon 2013 box set figure cost club members who attend botcon. $365 for the box set of 5 toys. the empty box sells for $40 on ebay. the free attendee figure sells for over $75 on ebay. it's basically $365 minus $40 minus $75 which totals $250. NOW DIVIDE $250 BY 5 & IT TOTALS $50 FOR EACH BOX SET FIGURE----> This all means the box set deluxe cost roughly 4 times the USA retail deluxe TF toy price. While the two voyagers in the box set each cost 2.5 times the price of a USA retail TF voyager sized figure.

Trying to calulate the cost of the botcon 2013 set of 5 loose bagged figures which cost $275 is even easier. $275 divided by 5 equals $55 for each figure. this means the Three deluxes each cost 4.2 times the price of a USA TF deluxe toy. while the 2 voyagers each cost Almost 3 times the price of USA retail voyager TF toy.
