Animated Series discussion thread (spoilers allowed)

Some cartoon with big chins and a little girl that got beloved by fans and taken off TV to make way for a different show on another network. Yeah, that's fair.

Unicron.com is reporting that Beast Wars writers Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio have guest written an episode for Animated's third season which is said that “it should be a surprise treat for all Beast Wars Fans.” The tentative title apparently is “PREDACONS RISING”.

Makes me wonder if that's when Wasp will be returning to the show. Obviously Blackarachnia should be involved with that episode as well. Given the supposed episode title, we might be seeing the birth of a new faction.

Meh. I hope it's done well, like Waspy and BA have been done so far, and not shitty and fanwanky like it 'could've' been. But Animated has a knack for doing things in kickass, non-fanwanky ways so far, so yeah.

I kinda hope Rampage shows up. He'd look kinda kickass in Animated style. Of course, though, Rampage showing up would mean Depth Charge would probably show up--and then we get massive amounts of Depth Charge fangirls, urgh.

I'M BEHIND THE DOOOOOOOR!!!!

The decepticons DO need more animal-formers to counter the dinobots.

I hope we get a balance of things. All-BW homage would be a bit ehhn when they could throw Razorclaw and friends in there too. Man, how awesome would a Mega Animated Razorclaw be to counter Grimlock?

Really awesome, that's how. Also throw in him being a Voltron homage or something.

I agree, stay away from the BW homages.

It's that hard? One word. Angst.

That not enough? One more word. BROODING angst.

Still doesn't drive the point home? How about three more. 90s anti hero.

I was actually put off by DC. I recall the marketing blitz, ("Depthcharge!" Depthcharge!" "Depthcharge!" "He is exactly the TF you have been waiting for!" The damned hype was veering on parody....), and being seriously under-whelmed by the character. I put off getting the toy for months as a result. He was not a wholly bad character, but was not close to living up to the hype of the marketing. (Imagine and Ultra getting that kind of hype now. And yes, factoring in inflation, DC would be about $30 now.)

I am going to say there is no Lobo fan-girl sect for partly the same reason there is not Punisher fan-girl sect. Girls tend to avoid comics, especially for that genre. And, Lobo, when written correctly, is a parody of that bad-ass macho man character. The only girls who would like Lobo are the post-modernist types who are incapable of enjoying and earnest story. (And, I will grant you, many DC fans are post-modernist types.) But, those are not fan-girls (or boys) so much as they are sneering, Cambridge-style snobs.
