Botcon 2010 is Generation 2

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

This is stupid. So many obscure G2 characters get a release as regular show figures, but the one that the most people are probably familiar with and wanted is only available as part of the customizing class? :x

On the other hand, this is still not as bad as Thundergate. It is, or at least was, possible to get the recognizable character at mass retail unless one lived in an area that skipped that wave. (I was lucky enough not to have that wave skipped. But, there were a few waves of Joes that never shipped here that were common elsewhere.) And, the black color scheme is obscure enough so that most collections will not be "incomplete" without it.

Granted, I am screwed because I really like the mould and want to build a shrin to it. And, as Anderson points out, it is a legitimate and popular G2 color scheme.

Dom
-but at least it ain't Thundergate.

I can even see not putting this toy in the box set, as it would be redundant next to Breakdown. But, rather than making it part of a souvenier set, the idiots went and made it the rarest thing at the show. Streetstar would have been a good custom figure. Putting one together would have been rewarding. And, that mould is fun to paint.

This thing better come out in some kind of general release.

Well looks like we barely missed Thundergate part 2:

But the upside to this is that Hasbro said the mold is still in use so maybe that means mass release Thundy. But we'll probably get Sunstorm instead *sigh*.

I'd be okay with a Sunstorm, but I'd settle for Thundercracker if I had to.

In browsing the various news summaries on different sites, I noted that IDW is working on a compilation of the G2 comic. I can't remember if it's planned for this year or next year though.

On a purely selfish level, I would prefer Sunstorm, just because if worse comes to worse, Thundercracker can be customized. Sunstorm would require maddening amounts of yellow, orange, and white paint. Thundercracker would require (easier to work with) blues, black, and grey.

Dom
-not even going to attempt another Sunstorm.
