Botcon 2010 is Generation 2

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

They have not even posted registration forms yet. But, they promise to announce when they do...on Twitter.

I think they have guests listed on their page though.

-still remembers '07, when they tried to act like it was a real bargain when they offered a deal along the lines of "buy 2 Voyagers, get 1 free", that (at Club Store prices) worked out to about the same as retail......for toys most people already had.

There's nothing on botcon.com yet, so I was just wondering if anyone knew anything.

Allspark has a report of an eBay auction for Scorch (recolored from Hound) and Glit (recolored from Ravage).

it looks like this year's theme is more "obscure international recolors" than G2.

Either way, I am liking that set...if only for the Hound recolor.

What about that EnerDownshift as Slicer we saw? Anything new on that?

I am willing to bet there is a new head in there, and that the dino is Grimlock. Look at the colors.

Okay, lets sort this out.

Boxes set: 5/5 counted and accounted for.

At show:
-Gnaw
-Rapido
-Scorch
-blue dino: http://shop.igeartoys.com/index.php?rou ... duct_id=69

This leaves us room for one more deluxe, which some speculate will be either Slicer/SG Wheeljack.

New head on Rapido and a (possible) new head on Grimlock brings us up to the usual amount of remolding, right?

Now it is just a question of figuring out what toy will be the give-away, and if Gnaw will be a troop=set, (which would rule-out SG Wheeljack).

Speculation on the Allspark earlier about the blue dino was leaning either toward G2 Cindersaur (the only Firecon not actually produced in G2) or SG Beast Wars Megs. Personally, I'd hope for Cindersaur. Grimlock and Cryotek were essentially shot down when Karl Hartman chimed in and said "keep digging".

I'm actually sort of relieved that it's not Grimlock. Because if it was, I was gonna want it, and that was just gonna lead to madness.

Wow, there's not actually a lot of G2 in this set, is there?

Does Hartman have any authority at all in the matter?

Hartman has honorary status. I do not know how much he does on the business side. But, he is an insider. If he says "keep digging" it either means he is honestly telling us we are wrong, or he knows we are right and is up to mischief.

Either way, his words have weight.

This set is only about 50% G2, and that is counting ambiguous characters.

The boxed set is 50% G2, unless one weights the toys by price-point, making it more like 85% G2.

The at show sets are largely a mix of G2, weird international/convention homages.

This would be less jarring if Master Collector did not make such a bit deal out of it being "G2 OMFG".

Oh God Dammit.

First that Hall of Fame poll with Dinobot, then Orange Hot Shot as the Club exclusive, and now 'Classics' Glit at Botcon? Transformers keeps finding new ways to make me hate David Willis this year. Even if I had a chance of getting these toys, I would probably pass on Scorch (however nice he turns out looking) just so I could avoid owning a version of Walky's stupid fucking fan character.

Seriously, what authority does that twit have that Hasbro keeps coming up with new ways to jerk him off? If I start drawing a mediocre webcomic and acting all frivolous and petty on forums, can I get Hasbro's attention to get that new Sky Lynx I want made? Is this how it works now?
