Voyagers showing up at Marshall's

Post by Dominic »

I found Lugnut and DeepDive. No Grapple figures.

Does anybody know the case breakdown? I found 5 Deepdives and 1 Lugnut. Can we extrapolate from this.

It is also safe to assume that TJ Maxx is a good place to start looking.

-still no fucking Windcharger figures though. Oh no. That would make things to easy. Who wants that? Fucking truncated distribution ruining the damned hobby.....

I don't think the cases are broken down like we think they are. I found two Lugnuts and a DeepDive, I think, and then nothing. It might be that one geographical area is actually getting cases and they're being split up.

My TJ Maxx has only had Basics and a single HA Bumblebee.

I can back this up. The two Rosses in my area actually had a Terradive and Brawn that got shuffled between them between the days I visited each. I saw a Seaspray at one, plus some Activators that have either been bought or just shuffled to another store. Both stores also had a wave of Marvel TFs I'd never seen before, Iron Man as a stealth jet and War Machine as a car, both with 'Glow in the Dark Paint!'. There was also the lone Lugnut that I saw and picked up.

The general consensus is that the desirable stuff isn't *nearly* as common as earlier reports made it out to be. It's pretty much a crapshoot that you'll find anything when you walk into a particular store on a particular day. I've heard that one thing that's happening is stores are opening up cases and only putting out *one or two* toys from them at a time, restocking at odd intervals (though Saturday seems to be the most popular day).

I know that toys are not the primary focus of these stores. But, simply for inventory purposes, it would make sense to move full cases.

Right now, my hunting list consists of Windcharger and a second Grapple. (And, I will post the second Grapple for at least a couple of days before customizing it.)

Marshall's seems to have new stuff every week or so. Of course, Saturday is a bad day for me to hunt. (I could do it. But, it would be a huge pain in my tuchus.)

The one Marshall's that I have only had HFTD figures, no RTS at all. The Ross right next door had Leader Starscream and some scouts, but nothing worth getting. The Ross near my house is the one that had Deep Dive and Lugnut. And they haven't had anything new since. My impression is that these stores buy left over stock from other stores at a discounted rate and then sell them at a much lower price than the normal stores can. As such, they might not even be getting full cases and the stuff that would be worth tracking down likely sold at where ever they bought their stock from.

Not necessarily. Lugnut has been seen at Marshall's. And, the Legends would also be scalper bait, but have shown up as well.

Sometimes it's that, and sometimes it's them buying unsold merch from Hasbro directly--Hasbro manufactures Lugnuts in anticipation of Wal-Mart etc. buying them, Wal-Mart rarely/never does, Hasbro sells the stock (possibly at loss!) to Ross etc.

There were some GI Joe vehicles planned to be released as Target exclusives like a RAM repaint with Sandstorm (the guy PoC Zartan kills and impersonates), but they never turned up at Target. Six months later (around March of this year) they started showing up in Ross.

Where is Sandstorm listed as the guy that Zartan kills?

It would not be the first time that the "GI Joe" line made a canonically dead character as a toy "after" their death.

Found more Voyagers. Lugnut and Grapple are spoken for. My next Lugnut, assuming I find another, is also spoken for.

I'm not entirely sure. The best I can find is some fans referencing early 'con pictures and listings that name PoC Zartan as coming with "Sandstorm disguise," which is an alternate head and webgear. So, who knows. What I do know is that it's widespread enough to be considered, if not canon, then pseudocanon.

I just checked YoJoe, and Sandstorm has a different head. Could go either way.
