February Hauls

Post by andersonh1 »

It's been awhile since I started one of these. :)

Today's comics (I was a day late getting to the comic shop this week): Brightest Day #19, and Green Lantern Corps #53 and 54. I don't know that I'm planning on picking the series back up regularly, but the storyline with the Weaponer who finds the white ring construct that Deadman left behind in the anti-matter universe (that sentence would only make sense in a comic book!) interests me. Both issues are back issues.

The comic shop I buy books at most of the time, Borderlands, just changed owners about three weeks ago. When I went in to buy some books, the new owner remembered me from about 20 years ago when he ran a different comic shop in the same area (now gone). I didn't recognize him at first, but apparently he's got a pretty good memory for faces. I remembered some of the others at the shop, including one guy I went to high school with, but not him. It's nice to be recognized after all this time. I hope his ownership of Borderlands goes well.

Some canny little device that lets one connect N64 controllers to a USB port. No more playing ROMs with a keyboard for me!

...Also, a new phone. *shrug* It's a means, not an end. Wish it'd been a more interesting colour than silver, but I had no choice.

Get a spiffy case for it. Or put G2 Decepticon logos on it. I do that with everything, mind.

Also, wired Xbox 360 controllers have USB ports. I bought one a full six months before I had a 360 so that I could play various emulated games with a decent controller.

I'd agree with you here, but you were just expressing joy over being able to use an N64 controller, which (in my opinion) is the WARST CONTROOLAR EVAR.

I use those Playstation-esque Logitech USB controllers. Though I'm a bit miffed that the analog triggers on the new one I got tend to dislike mapping to some functions.

Hulk need six face buttons for fight. No can plug Saturn controller into laptop. Xbox controller no fit Hulk hands. Only N64 good for Hulk smash!!

EDIT: Before anyone suggests a third party controller with six face buttons, or an arcade stick, I haven't found one yet with an analogue as good as my N64's, let alone an underside trigger button, which is a *necessity* for racing and shooting games IMO.

Eh, I like having my heavies on shoulder buttons, it makes it easier to triple-punch/triple-kick.

Anyway, finally got some hauls today! And did I ever.

My S.H. Figuarts Cure Black actually arrived at the Post Office a couple days ago, but since their institution is open the EXACT hours I'm at work, I was unable to go pick her up until today. She was well worth the wait. Been meaning to try out the SHF line for a while now, and though I'd figured my first would be a Kamen Rider of some sort, AmiAmi had Nagisa on a considerable sale, so I pounced. I love Cure Black's design, so I've been craving this figure for a while. The joints you swap parts onto feel a bit fragile for my giant American hands, so I'm kind of terrified of doing too much with her, but she looks great and has really well-implemented posability. And her alternate faces look terrific, even though SHF faces are even more of a pain in the ass to swap than Revoltech Yotsuba's faces. Her grinning face is what sold me on her in the first place. I'm quite satisfied with this thing, and I've already ordered a Cure White to accompany her.

Then I went to a Target with some friends while we were out, and NEW TOYS FINALLY. They had ONE each of Perceptor and Laser Prime, so no way I was gonna turn them down. They also both happen to have two of the damn fiddliest transformations I've dealt with in a while. Perceptor's legs are insane, and getting his vehicle mode all lined up was a royal pain. Prime's side sections weren't much better. But I've only had them open for a few minutes, I'm sure all will be well once I've gotten used to them. I dig Prime's sword, and his hands are really nice.

Also pre-ordered a 3DS. I've got until the end of March so I can pace myself on paying it off this way. And hey, I get $75 towards it if I trade in my old DS. So I might do that.

'Or,' and this is just a hypotenuse, you could sell me your old DS for $75. Which model is it?

It's a DSi, the pink one. And I'd totally sell it to you. I'd be happier with it actually going to someone than to Gamestop who're just gonna sell it to another shmuck for more.

I do this too (well G1 logos, but y'know).

Anywho... February hauls! Replaced the xbox. And subsequently WFC. This time it's an ehaul as I downloaded it. I tried buying one from Target but all they had were ones with blank discs in them. Also, another Snowtrooper. The desert brawl 3 pack with red Rampage and Ravage and bumblebee, the Demolisher pack with the ice cream twins and Payload. Yeah, I'm trying that fanmode Devastator thing again. Also, a FREAKIN ALARM SYSTEM!! Try jackin' my shit now assholes!! Sorry, had a moment there. I'm better now.
