Sorry for the 24 hour downtime, site up now
UPDATE 2 - news is now operating. I'm not seeing major problems, but still some slowages, so any major posts, you may want to save them on your pc before submitting.
Our host had something go super duper wrong with the server last night and it just kept going and going and going, then around 6:45pm PST they got it on a new machine and slowly brought it around. And for most of that time they kept us in the dark, but now it is online.
It appears we have no data lost, there is a post from just minutes before the site failure, but if you see any problems, please don't hesitate to LMK.
Also, if you're wondering about news, well, so am I. The admin end shows everything operating normally, but the front end is blank. I am attempting to discern ye olde WTF.
Thanks for your patience, and you may now go about discussing your robots.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Ugh, news is giving me more grief than I signed up for. I can see the content, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the system, yet it won't go.
Aaaaand now it seems to have gone loco.

Server is having troubles, I suspect that since we're on shared hosting, someone else has put something toxic into their site that is causing this, and taking everybody else on the server down with them. The host is investigating the situation, but for now we are seeing a lot of slowages and errors. I will look into moving us to a different host altogether, and deeply apologize for the inconvenience we are currently suffering.

I wondered what was up. The site's been slow to load all day, so I figured the buys weren't ironed out just yet. No problem, these things happen.

Yeah, I tried posting a news story today, but I have no idea if it worked or not. Blank page.JediTricks wrote:Ugh, news is giving me more grief than I signed up for. I can see the content, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the system, yet it won't go.

I'm not sure if this is related but I was automatically signed out of the board and couldn't log back in. It kept saying my password was wrong but I know it wasn't. Finally, I just reset it and that worked, but no clue why my old password would just stop working like that.

I really appreciate you guys understanding on this. The forums seem to be hanging in there pretty well, the news system not so much.
Anderson, if you posted it, it should be there. Let me check the admin end, it'll still show up there (although it's slow as mud, it is working). Yup, there it is. So once the situation with the front end gets worked out, it should appear automatically.
Sparky, it sounds like the system may have corrupted your cookies, if it continues, LMK and we'll try to work it out.
BTW, if you need to get ahold of me and didn't snag the email address under my name, you can also try my Myspace page where I'm trying to keep a blog going of the outage: www.myspace.com/jeditricks

Re: Sorry for the 24 hour downtime, site up now
Ok, I figured out the problem with the news system not displaying. This is a weird one, something about the page templates got corrupted in the move. I didn't think of it until a few minutes ago, when I went into the templates viewer in the dashboard, only then did the system mention it was broken and automatically switch it over to the default template set (which our templates are based off of for now until we can get something better). As soon as I saw that, I put our templates back into the system and switched to them, and voila, the news displays again.
The server is still showing a slowage in the news, the forums seem to be doing pretty well but I'll keep an eye on this to see if it doesn't get better.

My friend just registered a few minutes ago, but can't log in. Could these problems be the culprit?
I disappear.

Anything's possible I suppose, but I just tested the registration and it worked perfectly. What message is it giving him? He can email me, you can give him my email next to my name (it doesn't show for non-logged-ins so spambots don't grab it).Mirage wrote:My friend just registered a few minutes ago, but can't log in.
