What's the Best Leader sized Megatron toy released thus far?

Post by Tigermegatron »

In your opinion,What's the Best Leader sized Megatron toy released thus far?

Here's the list:
Energon Super/leader toy size Megatron/Galvatron
Cybertron Leader toy size Megatron/Galvatron
MP Megatron as the toy falls between leader & supreme toy size classes.
2007 Leader toy size Megatron
2009 ROTF Leader toy size Megatron
Transformers Animated Leader toy size Megatron

My vote goes towards 2009 Transformers Animated Leader toy sized Megatron. WHY? Because it's got the best sculpt, decent homage colors.Toy is very super poseable in the joints. No joints movements restrictions. Medium to mild transformation that is not overly complex nor overly simplified. Gimmicks & lights that don't get in the way of the sculpt. high superior toy engineering

Good lord, I actually have to say I agree with you on this one. Animated Leader Megatron looks really nice, and he looks as close to a definitive Megatron toy as were likely to get.

Call me a Geewunner if you will, but I really dig the classic Megatron design. The Masterpiece may have been a better representative of that, but I never got it so I dunno, and it seems like everything else was Movie Megatrons that don't really have anything I like that much happening in their designs. Now, had there been a Leader size DOTM Megatron, I might be singing a different tune there.

As for Energon Megatron, way back during the Cybertron era I asked this bunch on the BWTF boards if I should get Energon Megs and the response was universally "Oh HELL no", so I never got one. Kind of wish I'd gotten the deluxe size version of Galvatrin, though. That thing looked neat.

I must have been the only one that liked the Energon toy at the time. I actually thought it was pretty cool, but holding up against today's standards it has not aged well. And it's a poor showing of Leader sized Megatrons if that's the best one I can come up with (Animated being the exception).

Cybertron leader Megs was always kooky if not a bit weirdly colored and fiddly, but he had great play value. His repaint as Galvatron was even cooler, though I never owned him.

I loved the nice sculpt on the Energon Megatron/Galvatron mold. I thought it looked great & powerful in both modes. I really loved that the robot mode was a nice homage to 1986 Galvatron's robot mode. I even thought the shoulder canons & tank/forearm weapon were clever 1986 Galvatron homages.

The Problem I find with the Energon Megatron/Galvatron toy is the limited poseabilty the toy has. The toy needed Rotate wrist joints,360 degree swivel joints in the waist & thighs. Other bonuses would have been a ball jointed head joint & some type of joints in the fingers.
