That's a good list. And you're not limited to ten, I just thought I'd start off with that many, so if you think of more definitely post them.

Wreck it Ralph- My most recent favorite. I love this movie. I always get teary-eyed at the end.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - Not the remake from 2010. The original is simply a horror classic. It's a testament to its quality, that the remake with its higher budget and 26 years worth of improvements in movie f/x still looks like crap next to the original. Sometimes a $10 latex wall and some good lighting is worth more than all the crappy CGI in the world. :D

Predator- Man, I love this movie. Just a good ol' fashioned monster mash with Arnie and a whole squad of badass commandos.

DOA: Dead or Alive- Super cheese!! It's so fun! So cheesy! So bright and bubbly! I thought for sure I would hate this video-game based movie, but it's just so much fun, that I can't help but love it.

Aliens- So awesome. Do I even need to explain why this is here?

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy- A great sci-fi comedy with a unique visual look. Also has one of the best warm fuzzies ending ever.

Friday the 13th part 6: Jason Lives- "Hit the noise and the cherries!!"

Resident Evil- (is realizing there's a lot of horror on this list but doesn't care)- The first one is a great action/zombie flick. Fast paced, isn't constrained by the story of the games, and feels real tight. Not a single wasted scene. No fat on this movie! The action is fast and hectic but believable. Well, except for maybe the part where Milla jump-kicks a dog in mid-air but other than that!! The story is tight. The characters are likable. Everything about this movie works for me. How did the sequels botch it so bad?!

More as I think of them.

Some of my favorite movies:

Braveheart - historically inaccurate, but a well-told and dramatic epic

Hoosiers - I'm not a big fan of sports or sports movies, but this is the exception. The soundtrack plays a big role in that, but the small town high school sports brings back memories of the same, even though I was a runner rather than a basketball player

The Phantom Menace - yep, I'm the guy who loves Star Wars Episode 1. Went and saw it eight times in the theater when it came out. I still enjoy it as much as the other two prequels. Bad acting and bad dialogue? A lot of movies have that, including the original Star Wars... just watch Harrison Ford try to deliver some of his lines and tell me he's doing a good job. But the visuals are outstanding (as they are in all the Star Wars prequels), and the lightsaber fight with Darth Maul is one of the best.

It's a Wonderful Life - Jimmy Stewart is awesome in any movie, and he makes this one work. There are a lot of strong themes in this movie that just resonate with me, and have for a long time.

The Man Who Shot LIberty Valance - as long as I'm talking about Jimmy Stewart, I might as well throw this one in as well. And it's got John Wayne in it. Young idealistic lawyer goes out west, gets beat up by Valance, but refuses to be cowed and fights back, ultimately going a long way in life thanks to his determination.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - Still the best Indiana Jones film. Great character, great stunts, and a little bite without getting as dark as Temple of Doom or as light as the Last Crusade. And before you ask, yes I liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But the first Indy hasn't been bettered.

Oklahoma - had to throw a musical in here. When I was in high school I was in drama class the year they put on this musical, so I got a bit part and got to sing and act a bit. So I have a soft spot for the movie version, which leaves out a song or two I think. The plotline is a little creepy in places, surprisingly, with a stalker after the lead character, who has murdered women who rejected him before. Not as light and fluffy as one might expect a musical to be.

More as I think of them.

Feel all dirty after hating so much in the other thread, gotta love on some stuff over here.

Well, since anderson went and opened the door to musicals, I'm a big fan of the Moranis Little Shop of Horrors. It's just so good. And I listened to the soundtrack so much as a kid that I can still do most of the songs from memory. Especially the Audrey II's songs. And the Dentist song.

Also, West Side Story. I have a soft spot for the all-singing, all-dancing gang warfare classic. I love the choreographed greaser rumble action. And Natalie Wood...good lord, y'all. Strangely, though, Grease doesn't do much for me these days aside from the amazing title track.

Blood Diner. Here's the thing about Blood Diner. One night when I was thirteen I stumbled across this amazing little movie on cable late at night, and it informed a lot of my tastes and style to this day. It's 80's schlock horror at it's schlockiest and 80's-est. In it, two brothers are running a hip 80's health food place. But okay, their Uncle Anwar is a serial killer that the cops took out in the sixties, and his disembodied brain directs them to build a new body for the goddess Shiitar, who was worshipped by humanity five million years ago. And like, the pieces of their victims that they don't use to build Shiitar's new body get served to the customers at their suddenly extremely popular health food joint. And there's just so much craziness to this thing. You want topless cheerleaders machine-gunned? You got it. Crazy retro-50's soundtrack? No problem. Two of the funniest scenes of hit-and-run accident carnage ever? They're here. A wrestler named Jimmy Hitler? No probs, bro. We got that, too. Just...it's not a good movie by any stretch of the definition, but it's certainly enjoyable as a perfect bit of lunacy.

Ed Wood: I hated on Burton a LOT in the other thread, and I stand by that, but I love this movie to no end. Maybe it's the love that Burton clearly has for one of history's schlockiest schlockers, but I can't not love this. All these misfits and screwballs find a home and a community in it, and there's something great about that. Even if that in no way resembles what really happened with Ed Wood, I still love this one.

Pecker: This is my favorite John Waters movie, and probably my favorite Edward Furlong movie. Pecker's pictures of his weirdo, lower-middle class life become a huge sensation, but almost ruin all his friends and family's lives. But then he turns everything around by the sheer power of his positive outlook. It's kind of beautiful.

The Addams Family/Addams Family Values: I think Tim Burton wants his movies to be this cool, but he's never quite managed it. I'm a big fan of John Astin, but dang, Raul Julia is the perfect Gomez. Maniacal and suave, swashbuckling and freakish. He's amazing.

The Back to the Future Trilogy: II's my favorite, but all of these are just amazing. And I love how small the stakes are. Marty doesn't save the world, but he saves his family. It's not an accident that my dog's named Marty.

The Princess Bride: I'm not big into fantasy movies usually, and I generally am not a Billy Crystal fan, but this one, man, I just love it. When I got married, we borrowed the wedding ceremony from this one. I can't claim credit for that one, it was my wife's idea, but it was awesome.

Sling Blade: Just everything about it is perfectly done. Dwight Yoakam's acting is every bit as good as his music. Again, I think it's a case of it appealing to my love of "Misfits and outsiders find each other and form strong bond" love, but there's one thing in the way, and Carl's act of self-sacrifice saves his adopted family the way he couldn't save his real one. So good.

I might get back on later to gush about more movies I love, but that'll do for now.

Love Princess Bride. It's a timeless classic. Back to the Future Trilogy and Addams Family too. Love them.

Legend, Labyrinth and the 1st NeverEnding Story all fit into that 80s fantasy genre that has never quite been duplicated since. They were the pinnacle of 80s fantasy movies, and I love them all (despite Crazy Cruise being the star of Legend).

Clue- How could I forget Clue?! My favorite board game in existence, and it was adapted into one of my all-time favorite movies ever. AND it's got Tim Curry in it!!

Evil Dead 2- The Evil Dead trilogy is like the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. Part 1 is too serious. Part 3 is too slapstick. But part 2 is juuust right. A wonderful horror comedy with a great twist ending that would make M. Night jealous.

Creature From the Black Lagoon- Never cared for the sequels, but the original is good ol' fashioned Universal Monster fun.

Cloak and Dagger- Recently had the chance to watch this again, and it still holds up. Dabney Coleman as Jack Flack steals the show.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl- I don't need the sequels. This movie is awesome all on its own. :)

Yeah, I should've said that I don't hate Army of Darkness. It's still good. And it's way, WAY more quotable than parts 1 and 2 combined! I just like part 2 a bit more.
