STNG in the J.J Abrams ST universe,would it work?

Personally,I don't think it would work. Because the writers would have to explain,the newer differences in the STNG J.J Abrams universe that was a direct result of the first J.J Abrams ST movie time changing events.

I also don't think the STNG crew is iconic enough to get replaced with newer actors/actresses & have a newer viewing audience care enough to watch them.

Here's some funny scenarios of mine for the STNG J.J Abrams ST universe,that was a direct result of time changing events in this ST universe:
1- Data in the J.J abrams STNG ST Universe is a female android.
1a- Their is a whole planet full of female adroid data's. their enemy is the borg,they hate robot parts mixed with organic parts.
One of the female data's enrolled in the federation to infiltrate & destroy the federation,thru her love & eventual marriage to geordi she abonded those ways.
2- Geordi la forge is attracted to the female data,thru the years they fall in love & get married. Both Data & Geordi la forge create/build a baby/son.
3- Worf's family never had his family's honor taken away because of the time changing events,Worf is in command of the klingon empire & plots daily to destroy the federation.
4- Riker starts off as the captain of the enterprize but quickly gets promoted to admiral.
5-second in command picard is married & has two kids that all live on the enterprize,when riker got the admiral rank he gave the captain rank to picard. Riker is worried the captain postion might be too much for picard too handle,so he checks up on his progress & gives him advice when his spare time allows.
6- the borg androids can all combine to form gestalts. the borg cube ship can transform into a huge robot with the borg queen controlling it.
7- Counselor Deanna Troi is a spy who works for the romulan empire,she works undercover aboard the enterprize,nobody on the enterprize knows she can read minds. Deanna eventually seduces Admiral Riker into a realationship & marries him for the sole purpose of getting top secret federations info/codes from him. In her real life Deanna is married to a Romulan & she has kids.
8- Doctor Pulaski is married to Second in command/captain picard.
9- Q,assumes the idenity of a woman because he knows captain/admiral riker likes sexy females. Riker & Q date for a while,until it ends then Deanna marries Riker.
10- Miles O'Brian is still a ensign,he's never moves up in rank.
11- The remaining Vulcans have formed a partnership with the Romulans & they mix the races thru marriage & DNA experiments.
12- The ferengi race has all been made in borg's. the borg empire use them as troop builders to infiltrate the federation.
13- borg empire is more sucessful at turning different planets full of life forms into borg troop builders. the borg even goes as far as turning animals into borgs. instead of adapting with shields,the borgs can combine to form gestalts.
14- ST Chief engineer Scotty has to make occassional trips to the next generation enterprize ship to fix big stuff when it breaks or needs massive repair,due to STNG chief engineer geordi not being as smart as he was in the regular STNG universe. Geordi has no spare time to learn stuff due to him being married to data & having to also take care of an android child/baby.
15- Captain/Admiral riker's rival enemy is klingon emperor/king warf,they often have these intense fights that are legendary in the federation.
16- Second in command/captain picards 19 year old daughter is in a relationship with king/emperor Warf's son. it's a secret relationsip that hardly anyone knows about,They plan to get married.
17- The klingons have captain Kirks dead body in a labortory,they are secretly working to clone a newer kirk with mixed klingon dna to destroy the federation.
18- The next generation ship can transform in a huge robot to fight the transformed borg cube ship robot. Transforming of either ship destroyes everything inside,once transformed into robot mode,they can not be tranformed back into ship mode. once the robot-ship runs out of power it explodes,so the crew must exit before this happens. Captain/admiral Riker doesn't trust his newly appointed caprain picard to pilot the robot enterprize,so riker's is in charge when these epic robot-ships battles happen.
19- Guinan is currently caught between alternate universes,often times Against her will her alternate universe self beams in & out. Bill cosby often assumes the role of her male alternate universe self when the she gets beamed out & sent to another universe for short periods of time.

I'm not a big fan of the fact that they recast the crew of the original series. I've seen both movies and enjoyed them, but ask me who's the best Kirk or Spock or whoever, and I'm always going to pick the original actors, by a mile. I think the recasting works in some ways because so much time has passed since the actors were young, and the the newer movies allow us to see the characters with big budgets and big effects, so there's some novelty there.

I'm not sure TNG would be quite as easy to reboot, though I can see the movies throwing in some nods to it, like they did with Enterprise (the mention of Admiral Archer's beagle). TNG is set some 70 years after the original Trek, so unless they change things, we're not going to see Kirk run into Picard in the hallway at Starfleet Academy or anything.

I don't know, I'm of the mindset that they got away with recasting one Trek series and just about got away with it, but I'd leave the rest of Trek alone at this point.

Agreed...

It works for ST,Because the classics crew are in their late 60's & 70's,these actors simply can't perform all the running around & fight scenes required in any newer star trek movies.

Having the STNG in the J.J Abrams ST universe simply doesn't work because most of the original STNG cast are still young enough to do some running around & engage in fight scenes in any newer STNG movie. it would just look weird having different actors play Riker,captain picard,geordi,warf,data,due to the original crew still being young enough to do more STNG movies.

Most on-line fans don't understand that the J.J Abrams ST universe isn't permanent & will only last for a few more years/movies,until it ends. similar to the various Batman movies having different directors that ended their movies in their universe. IN ORDER FOR STNG TO WORK IN THE J.J ABRAMS ST UNIVERSE,ROUGHLY ABOUT 15 MORE YEARS NEED TO PASS--->this 15 years passing will make all the original STNG crew far too old to run around & perform fighting scenes in a STNG movie.
