Did/does anyone enjoy watching the ALF show?

I never cared for the show,I always thought it was awful. Even for the 1980's standards,it was hands down the most cheesiest, most corny, most lame, most annoying show.

I always enjoyed Alf when I had a chance to watch it. It made me laugh, which is all I require from a sitcom.

I particularly enjoyed the episode where Alf becomes obsessed with Gilligan's Island, and they actually had Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson play their characters again. That was a lot of fun. Then again, maybe it says something about Alf when my favorite episode is one which recreates an older sitcom, I don't know.

Jeez dude, is there anything aside from Season 3 of Transformers that you DO like? It seems like every thread you start is about something/someone that you think is awful/crap/lame/whatever. Try projecting some positivity rather than being such a constant negative Nancy.

And to answer the question: Yes, I love ALF. It was one of my favorite shows back then and even now.

I used to watch ALF all the time when I was a kid. Did any of you ever see that made for TV movie they did about ALF back in 1996, where he was captured by the military? I saw a few minutes of it, and it was so bizarre. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a comedy or if they were trying to be a bit more serious. Might've helped if I watched more than 5 minutes of it. But I was really puzzled as to why the Tanner family was missing or if they even mentioned them. They had to have mentioned them, right??

He's got a point, though. The amount of negativity you bring to the forum is a real fucking downer, dude.

I saw that. It was still comedy but they did not mention the Tanners. There was also a late night style talk show with ALF shortly after that but it didn't last very long.

I seem to remember Alf being on some of those 10-10-321 long distance commercials too, or whatever they were. I was surprised to see him turn up since that was a few years after the show went off the air.

Just long enough for kids that used to watch the show to have gotten old enough to need long distance service, maybe? Hahahahaha long distance service. Man, what a silly idea that sounds like nowadays.

I used to like that show a lot, myself. Nowadays I'm just kind of fascinated by just how dark it was. Like the bit where Alf's whole planet blew up and everyone he ever knew died instantly. And now he's stuck in one house because if the general public finds out about his existence, it's dissection time. Sure, all those times ALF would say "I kill me!" he sounded jovial, but who knows what soul-crushing despair sounds like on Melmac? While we're at it, he had a real name that no one in the family would call him. That's kind of weird, right? Not like Gordon is hard to pronounce or anything.

Am I overthinking this, aren't I? Anyway. Here's a short article on how working on the show went. For some reason this stuff makes the show legitimately more interesting to me.
