I saw this Media TF show on TV last week that confirmed this info.

Harrison Ford is supposed to be returning too.

As long as none of them try to act like they're still young, I'm fine with it. Older versions of their characters to establish some continuity with the earlier movies is a reasonable idea.

Actually, there are ways they could still pull off the "young" look. Did you see Tron: Legacy? Because they really did a good job with Jeff Bridges in that movie. If I hadn't seen the special features showing how they did it, I wouldn't have known that it was mostly CGI.

I do love these guys, hopefully the writing will honor them and use them effectively.

The Tron Legacy thing was nearly "there" with Flynn's younger face, but not quite alive enough in the mouth. With Carrie Fisher at least, they'd have to modulate her voice a bit to get her to sound young, she's got a slightly lower voice now. Personally, I wouldn't mind this if it wasn't too over the top, but I wouldn't want to see X-men 3 results either, that stuff was dreadfully used there. Also, I don't care as much for more stories of these characters as we knew them then, I'm more interested in learning what happened after that, what adventures the post-Endor battle held for them. Still, they're WAY older so some de-aging would be ok, Harrison Ford looks like he melted.

I'm guessing these guys are going to be mostly cameos--at best, we can expect Obi-Wan Kenobi levels of "adventure."

Also, Hamill is basically a lock to appear in all three anyway, even if it's only as a ghost. (I won't say that I don't expect at least one CGIfest flashback sequence, though.)

I suspect Mark Hamil/Luke Skywalker will get a bigger role than leia & Han solo in VII,VIII & IX. Luke will most likely be training a whole squadron team of young Jedi's than span a few decades worth of him teaching the art of the Jedi ways. Luke will probably die in episode VIII & appear as a ghost to mentor.

My guess is that Leia & Han solo in episode VII will have a baby or two that grew up thru the decades & wants luke to teach them the Jedi ways. Perhaps luke might already be teaching them the Jedi ways.

I have my fears that Harrison Ford isn't going to want to play the Han Solo character the way he appeared in episodes VI,V & VI,Which was basically a drifter with no brains, goofy,no class,no skill. Harrison's ego would probably make tons of demands on the VII,VIII,IX writers to re-write the Han solo character into something that is un-recognizable to what Han solo is. this ofcause would upset fans. Harrision would probably want Han solo to be the king or a leader of a planet that he rules with leia & their kids. or harrison would want Han solo to evole into some scientist & extremely smart General guy that gives battle field commands to troops.

I don't expect luke in episode VII to be married nor have any kids as this is against the way of the Jedi rules.

Obviously the dark side of the force will re-emerge with newer evil guys. I really want the episode VII,VIII & IX writers to explore & give some back story where the whole dark side of the force originated from. give viewers a general idea of the first dark side force member & where all the dark side powers come from. I highly doubt any of this will happen as the Episodes I thru episodes VI writers don't appear that competent to do any of this.

I honestly think at this point in the game,The characters in episode VII,VIII & IX need to visit the spirit world in order to trully find out where the good & bad forces come from & give some back story on founding leaders. Sorta what the NICK Avatar cartoon series does when AANG visits the spirit world & learns about the past, where his powers came from,etc...

I love the people who are getting all bitchy about how having these guys appear is 'pandering' or whatever. I don't know where they come from, but the movie sequels I watch typically have characters from the previous movies appearing in them.

Generally speaking, these have to at least turn out better than the prequels, right? Right?

Good point. Luke's already broken the Old Jedi Order rules by having personal attachments. The Old Jedi Order's rules were too stiff obviously, they were an ineffective and immaterial clown show in the prequels.

Luke is in constant contact with the spirits of Obi-one,Yoda & Other spirits,I'm sure these spirits team luke the past & all the Jedi rules.

I suspect luke's role in Episode VII will be that of a teacher to young jedi students. Luke will probably want to live by example by teaching the young Jedi the proper old school Jedi teachings.

I don't think luke would have a wife nor kids because according to the Jedi ways he puts himself at a dis-advantage. because the bad guys can get to him by killing his family.
