Your thoughts on the newer Hasbro Construct-bots TF toys?

No noses? No problem! Zombiebots? Sure, why not. A confusing new canon that allows loose and contradictory material? And now a new sequel show with an entirely different art style that takes place way in the future!

Your thoughts on the newer Hasbro Construct-bots TF toys?

i'VE BEEN dreaming of TF toys with inter-changeable parts forever/decades. Having head swaps, limbs swaps & parts swaps between my TF toys is a dream come true for me. since I am a medium level customizer/kitbasher.

I don't like that so many character TF toys in this line have the "DUNE BUGGY/OFF ROAD BIG 4-WHEELER similar alt modes. hopefully as the line advances thru the waves/years,we'll get different car modes.

I love that these are not nor limited in design by the LEGO building blocks designs. Having unique building parts makes these more unique,different,special,non-generic & more in line with build it model kits.

These look like they can transform back & forth when built. instead of the KREO build sets where buyers have to keep taking apart & building to get the different modes.

I really like Blitzwing & THE BIGGER Megatron toy. So those i'll be definately buying.

Soundwave's toy kinda looks like it'll make a decent repaint/re-tool for 1988 Mega-pretender Thunderwing.

Tripple changer bumblebee I view as another wasted repeative toy slot stolen by bumblebee. I would have much rather seen astrotrain or springer get this toy slot.

I do see repaint/re-tool potential for the tripple changer bumblebee toy,I WAS Thinking it would make decent 1986 tripple changer Sandstorm toy or a G-2 Jhiaxus toy.

I think the starscream toy should have been voyager size. seeing such a decent decent getting the scout size toy is SAD.

Gah, saw these the other day, meant to make a thread, neglected to. Anyway:

Hasbro cribbing from Bionicle’s design philosophy to make buildable TFs that can actually transform is a nice idea, especially that they’ve managed to include triple-changers in the assortment. On the other hand, they look…just kind of okay, basically like Bionicle/Hero Factory things with generic Transformers pieces bolted on. And I do mean generic, as once again we’ve got a slew of the same ol’ ’84-’85 ‘bots kicking off the line, with the only remotely interesting one being Blitzwing, simply on account of him not having a new toy before this one. This, coupled with the reported prices of these things being a bit on the high side, mean I’ll probably be skipping almost the whole line. But hey, Blitzwing getting his first new toy in this format is sure to elicit indignant, angry howling from the fanbase, so I’ll be able to enjoy that, at least.

Also, I wonder just how viable it is for Transformers to sustain a *fifth* separate line. Generations, Bot Shots, Prime/Beast Hunters, and Kre-O are all still going and showing every intention of continuing to, so yet another subline (which potentially competes with Kre-O, besides) doesn’t seem like it would be the most secure investment.

Five different lines, the same 20 or so characters. G.I. JOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Not really sure why this is in the Prime section...

Toy-wise, these have real potential. "Kre-O" is limited by being glorified Legos. We could get toys that actually look good out of this though.

Hasbro may cut "Bot Shots", or maybe reduce "Kre-O".

-not sure how "from 1984" means "generic".

Lego at least has a characteristic style to it though. These are just kinda spindly, samey, Bionicle-y bots with not much to them besides bolted-on chestplates. I dunno, they just come across as really underwhelming, and while a case can be made for the Kre-O stuff for being unique as 'Lego style Transformers' regardless of how they are as actual toys, these don't have that benefit and just look like...really sub-par TF toys.

Generic Transformers. What most Transformers look like when they don't try to put any original ideas into their designs or anything. They don't have anything defining or unique about them, they're just designed to look like plain ol' Transformers.

Plus, boxy, humanoid 80's robots are pretty generic, just in general.

This line seems almost ironic... I remember years ago when we first saw the movie figures, people were calling them Transformers Bionicle. Never understood that since they looked nothing like it. But this line, this truely looks like Bionicle versions of Transformers. Can't say I'm all that impressed with the line personally... Although I do like the look of a few of them. Bumblebee and Blitzwing in-particular I think look pretty cool.

I agree, that re-using the same character cast that are getting dozens of newer TF toys is a bit sad & redundant for this "Construct-bots build it toy line. at the very least they should having giving us other TF character toys that have rarely received a new toy or none at all, like tripple changer astrotrain,a few combiners team members,1986 Springer, other tripple changers,1986 thru 1989 TF toy character toys.

The problem I see is the majority of the various 5+ different TF toy lines for 2013 go from mild, mediocre & just awful. Botshots toys would have been awesome had the toys had more poseable joints. KRE-O would have been more awesome had they done more G-1 molds, less movie-verse,more daring tos like G-1 Combiners, tripple changers, city formers, six changers,G-1 Animal-bots,japanese exclusive G-1 character toys.

Those KREON Combiners are mediocre at best. I'll buy them because I love combiners, they'll be cheap & tiny to display. These things are obviously aimed at kids under 3 years of age/toddlers.

Generations for 2013,I think has the most potential. But hasbro will probably ruin the 2013 year by overly repainting/re-tooling all the 2012 molds & not releasing enough newer molds deluxes & voyagers.

TFP/Beasthunters,I find more hit than miss, the toys are more higher kid aged themed than those toddler styled animated toys were.

I think the construct-bots TF toy line is the perfect line to create a Six-Changer new toy for 1987 Sixshot. Most of sixshots modes are simplified are involve turning the toy over to reveal another mode.

After more info & pics came in regarding these Construct-bots TF toys. I don't think I will be buying any. I had originally weeks ago narrowed it down to just buying Megatron & Blitzwing. Then after more info came in,These seem like they might be deluxe size or smaller. I honestly don't like the ugly shaped parts these toys have, especially the chest parts.

I might get these if their voyager size & bigger,But I doubt they are big scaled toys.

I was originally interested in Construct-bots Blitzwing due to his animated 2008 toy being so awful. then a week later at hasbro's NYC toyfair, news+pics broke out of a Voyager sized Blitzwing toy. So I'm going to be getting this Generations blitzwing toy instead.

I do like how the EXO-Skeletons of these construct-bots toys remind me of how Marvel TF G-1 comics drew the TF robots exo-skeletons. Marvel invisioned the Transformers as having a robotic exo-skeleton that then had extra robot parts & alt mode parts later attachedf to the body. Best examples of this is the UK Galvatron when he got destroyed. PMOP Optimus when the chosen one rebuilt HI-Q & Optimus as one entity.
