June Hauls!

Picked up TFPrime Commander Class Dreadwing. This guy apparently showed up after I quit watching the show, but he looked cool enough in the package. Okay, it was mostly his sword looking cool that sold me, but a buy's a buy, right? His robot mode is really cool, a bit more posable than I'm used to from a Commander (still no turning head though, argh!), and the weapons are indeed cool, especially the sword, though the cannon's a bit large for my tastes. Transformation is rather simple, reminds me of a flipchanger jet without the springs. Also, the pictures on the box are hilariously wrong on how to transform the arms: they're actually meant to peg into the sides of the legs so everything's more streamlined, the peg-holes on the wings are actually meant for the weapons. I actually checked the instructions to see, and they show the correct arm transformation, but humorously use the box pics as the 'finished' shots of the modes, meaning the doofy wrong arm configuration is shown immediately after they tell you the correct way to do it. Overall, a solid little toy, I really like the colors too.

Bleargh, I kinda feel like doing a full review, actually. Maybe I'll give him and Hot Shot one at some point.

Also picked up Negima! Vol. 35 because I shouldn't put off buying this series.

Customizing yielded "Assassin Blurr", which is based on the unreleased recolour from the TF Animated line a few years back. (I added significant amonts of black to a "Generations" Blurr equipped with left-over Drift side-panels, knives and the original sniper rifle.)

A friend of mine got me a gift certificate at a local comic shop as a way of saying "thanks" for some help on a project. So, I picked up "Infinity War".

Further cheating reveals: The hundred toys I forced myself to cut down to only counts Transformers of Scout Class or larger. I have no idea what do do with mini-cons or Legends. Obviously, any toy I sell includes it's Mini-con, but I never had that many Armada toys, and I have a huge-ass bag of mini-cons. No idea how that happened.

Count Minicons as being part of the set they were packaged and/or gang-moulded with.

Legends count as individual toys.

-not sure what the appeal of comics by talentless hacks like Spiegelman is. "Hey, look, he cannot draw a clean line or write a sentence worth readeing! Awesome!" (Seriously, I would happily accept a genocide if it meant no more comics of that quality.)

I picked up that ‘Ultra Poseable Spider-Man’ from the Amazing Spider-Man line. This movie looks like it has a chance at being cool, and I really dig the costume they’re using for it (no way in hell it’s not drawing some inspiration from the Ben Reilly costume), so this little guy was a worthwhile purchase. He is, indeed, ultra-poseable, having most of the articulation of that new Marvel Universe body (like the one they used for Jim Lee Cyclops), with the addition of double elbows and Figma-style bending wrist joints, all in more Spider-Man-y proportions than the regular MU buck. He does lack a waist swivel in favor of a (somewhat limited) chest joint, presumably for aesthetic purposes. His joints do seem a little tight in places, and coupled with his slender frame makes me somewhat nervous about breaking him occasionally, but this also means he holds poses really well. And his hands are just sculpted somewhat-open hands, none of this eternally-webslinging nonsense. It is kind of a bummer that he comes with absolutely no accessories, a webline for him to swing from woulda been nice. But the articulation IS the gimmick here! What year is this?!

Speaking of which, the same line actually includes a figure of Spidey in the Ben Reilly costume, but this version actually has even less articulation than the one I passed on back in the generic Spider-Man line! T-crotch? What the hell, guys?!

Hasbro are trying hardcore to cut costs, this line included. (That said, "Ultra-Poseable Spider-Man" has been a figure available in different forms since the 90s. I recall having one that was held together with O-Rings like GI Joe figures.) It sucks bad.

Anyway, my birthday is tomorrow, and so I received in the mail an awesome gift of Masterforce on DVD the other night. I started watching it (and Tweeting bits and pieces) and I think I'll be doing some (brief) episode-by-episode play by play. But so far, so good!

Right, I need to order this now! It's like, not much money on Amazon! We can watch and talk about it together, with a thread in the G1 forum, or something!

I already posted a thread! Get on that shit!

It is like $20 which is surprisingly cheap for what was, for years, a Goddamn rarity, or would at least require importing.

New phone! Finally made the jump to a smartphone with an LG Lucid (and a data plan to go along with it, natch <_<). I'm a little overwhelmed by the capabilities of it; spent the weekend just loading stuff onto it and trying it out. Okay, the first day was mostly just downloading and playing with Kamen Rider sound/effect apps, but then I got to really cool stuff, like PS1 emulators (Rival Schools on my phone! My life is now complete!), and one of those VNC-server-remote-desktop-access things, which while cool as hell, I'm not sure how useful it will prove to be. Only time will tell, I guess.

Oh, and rode down to Target today and saw that they had this assortment of Hot Wheels-branded (but not sized; they're like, twice the size of traditional HW cars) Batman vehicles. As goofily entertaining as getting a modestly-sized diecast version of Danny DeVito's duck-roller thing from Batman Returns would be, I pretty much had to go with the '66 Batmobile. This thing's a pretty sweet little toy car, I'm happy.

Did they have the '89 Batmobile? Because that will always be The Batmobile to me.

Over the weekend I received (as birthday gifts):
-ROTF Legends "Desert Decimation" pack. I put this thing on my Amazon wishlist a month or two back despite its ridiculous aftermarket price of $26. My grandmother bought it for me, having no idea about the size of these things. So I don't bite the bullet! Tan Brawl and Bonecrusher are pretty neat, and Ironhide is passable at best, but damn does Ratchet suck! He might be the worst Transformers toy I own, and I own McChangables and BW Happy Meal toys.
-Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion pedal. My father found it at a flea market. I tried it out a little bit last night and it feels like it's just the thing I've been missing from my repetoire. I can get some really good, heavy Alice In Chains-type stuff, where you can still hear the individual notes ringing out when you play a chord. I'm going to experiment with it a bunch this week and maybe record some new stuff with it.

Nah, the assortment Target had was two vehicles each from '66 Batman and Batman Returns: The '66 Batmobile and Batcopter, and the 'Armored Batmobile' and the Penguin's Duck thing. I presume there'll be later waves with stuff from other movies like the first Burton Batmobile, and the Tumbler, since that would be the sensible thing to-
Mattel
Oh, right.

Oi. A trip to the vet yesterday to get my cat's teeth cleaned turned in to a last minute surgical removal of a lump. Oi. So, I got some stress, followed by peace of mind and a large pile of cat meds for my cat.

On a more routine note, this past weekend, customizing yielded a Mini-Constructicon (ala "Spotlight: Ramjet") based on a PCC Chopster.
