Taking an internet break

Post by Ursus mellifera »

I need a break from the internet. As such, I'm also taking a break from these forums. I'll still receive PM's if you send them, but I won't be visiting for a while. I find I'm using the internet to distract myself from the things I actually want/need to get done.

Aren't we all? I mean, I only ever post here from work. (In fact, I don't even visit at home anymore, because that'll take away valuable time I can use at work.)

Verizon shut off my Internet for a few days because I was late on my bill for a few months (When the bill is only $25, it's easy to go, "Fuck it, I'll pay it all off next month," for four months.) and it was actually a pretty cool weekend. I missed being able to torrent stuff, but I found that me and my girlfriend were actually 'having conversations' again. (This is a mutual thing we've both been suffering from. It's not a "relationship breaker" kind of issue, it's more like both of us realized we were having deep conversations in the car but not at home.)

I haven't been posting much lately either and for similar reasons as O6 (although I my internet bills are paid). But, I find I'm doing other stuff when I get home instead of hopping on the 'net.

My problem with the bill wasn't money-related, just laziness.

I've been trying to dial back my net usage too. Cut back on the number of forums I post to (bye-bye, TFW). In fact, I think the time I waste on the net has actually cut into time I might otherwise use to beat a video game or go do something fun. It's just something to kill time, really.

I know, I didn't mean anything by it, just really stating difference in circumstances. I guess. I'ma shut up now.

I know you didn't; I was clarifying as an advance for anyone else who might have thought my issues were financial rather than apathy.
