Dairy Con is same weekend as BotCon
I truly admire Fred's Workshop. I should not. But, I do.

It does seem up your alley. Same weekend as Botcon, risky!

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?
Re: Dairy Con is same weekend as BotCon
Joking aside, I could not make either one. I would be more torn. Dairy Con is cheaper. And, I would rather give my money to Fred and not Savage. But, BotCon has a better guest list.

And arguably better toys.Dominic wrote:But, BotCon has a better guest list.
Re: Dairy Con is same weekend as BotCon
I have handled Dairy Con exclusives. Yes, they are knock-offs. But, they are good enough knock-offs to be comparable to legit figures, especially given Hasbro's quality standards and control over the last few years. This year, I would likely prefer BotCon toys, (because of SG Tracks). But, last year, Dairy Con toys would have been more fun to fiddle with.
As for the characters those toys represent, BotCon has a slight advantage for being official. But, I cannot say that fan-fic grade official characters are much better than actual bad fan-fic characters.
Comparing the dealer rooms is irrelevant because anything you do there can be more easily done on eBay.

Wow. I didn't even know that Dairy Con had it's own exclusive figures. And the dealer room at Dairy Con is likely to be better based on the fact that Hasbro has banned 3rd party products from the dealer room on penalty that said dealers will be ejected from the con.

How does that have any bearing on the dealer room being "better?"Shockwave wrote:Wow. I didn't even know that Dairy Con had it's own exclusive figures. My guess is that because Dairy Con will have random people reselling old toys, making one more likely to find a toy one is looking for for a price one is willing to pay.Onslaught Six wrote:How does that have any bearing on the dealer room being "better?"Shockwave wrote:Wow. On a side note, I kind of want to repaint the old BW buffalo as a Predacon bull, and rename it Dairycon.

Well I actually meant that because dealers can sell the 3rd party products at Dairy Con and not at Botcon, if nothing else that means that the possible toy selection would be wider at Dairy Con (ie: I can get City Commander armor at Dairy Con. I cannot get one at Botcon, in spite of the resulting purchase of the legitimate Ultra Magnus to go with it).Ursus mellifera wrote:My guess is that because Dairy Con will have random people reselling old toys, making one more likely to find a toy one is looking for for a price one is willing to pay.Onslaught Six wrote:How does that have any bearing on the dealer room being "better?"Shockwave wrote:Wow. I hadn't even thought of that.Shockwave wrote: Well I actually meant that because dealers can sell the 3rd party products at Dairy Con and not at Botcon, if nothing else that means that the possible toy selection would be wider at Dairy Con (ie: I can get City Commander armor at Dairy Con.
