I was actually put off by DC. I recall the marketing blitz, ("Depthcharge!" Depthcharge!" "Depthcharge!" "He is exactly the TF you have been waiting for!" The damned hype was veering on parody....), and being seriously under-whelmed by the character. I put off getting the toy for months as a result. He was not a wholly bad character, but was not close to living up to the hype of the marketing. (Imagine and Ultra getting that kind of hype now. And yes, factoring in inflation, DC would be about $30 now.)
Depth Charge was an Ultra, so hey. Universe and suchlike.
He's not a wholly bad toy, either, the wings are cleverly done and I dig the disk launcher. But the colours are bad, the transformation is too ambiguous about what to do with the wings, the 'spaceship' mode is pretty weak, and he's longer than he is tall. Would like the Universe recolour at some point, I'm just not interested in paying particularly much for it.
Rampage, kibbly as he is, is a vastly better toy with truly amazing engineering on that tank mode.
The only girls who would like Lobo are the post-modernist types who are incapable of enjoying and earnest story.
Now I've just gotta find out where those types hang out!

With me.
My friend, of Japanese heritage, hates anime and manga so much she has completely engrossed herself in western comic books. It's kind of freaky in a cool way.

Marvel's lack of pretense is nice. Of course, with Joe Q running the show, they are not more "dumb thugs" than good-natured lugs.
DC has its moments. But, even during the 90s (a great decade for DC, when the company took the high-road comparied to other companies), they were still snide. "Kingdom Come" was basically Mark Waid writing about why Image Comics sucked (before DC bought Wildstorm) with less grace than Peter David did in his, far more honest, "But I Digress" column in CBG.
Rampage was not a bad toy, but the crab legs on the arms bugged me.

Female Red Alert 'and' Hot Shot? This will prove to be interesting. It's almost like they're pitting the G1/Movie centric cast of Animated so far with the ArmEnerTron guys. Which could be fun, if they're around for more than three eps like the Elite Guard.
As much as I enjoy Animated's episodic bit, I wish the plots would continue on more, y'know?

...About that, I REALLY hope the new DB movie is a big postmodern joke, and has a whole hour of Goku just stood still, charging up, while the female characters (because they have to stay at home, as we know) just go "Ohhhhhhhh!"
And, yeah, Animated does have a better structure than DBZ, but what does that say? Teen Titans still has a better structure. =/
I know, I know, expect perfection and you'll only be disappointed!

God, the Dragonball movie will be horrible. Have you seen Piccolo yet?

Yeah, he really SLAYS me. Huh? Huh?? 8D
I am actually ashamed of Toriyama for allowing the notoriously ass-ful American film industry the rights to his magnum opus. I can at least hope he had no part in it, and it was all executive tomfoolery totally out of his hands, and he hates the idea too.
C'mon, most of you guys live there.... what IS it with the States' film industry and just doing horrid disrespectful remakes?? I know it's not your fault, but... Maybe you can give me some help here?? Write angry letters, or something. That's what "we" do!
Between "Dragon Balls" and "Get Smart" I just can't choose which vomit-inducing "reimagining" of a classic franchise I want to force into my eyes next! 8D~
So, Animated, yeah...?
