Spotlight:

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

My hatred for IDW Galvatron runs pretty deep, so I wouldn't mind seeing him, Schizo-Cyclonus and Cipher-Scourge get offed. On the other hand, were they to actually give him a personality and turn him into a decent character, I might not mind him sticking around.

Dom, I still you're way over-reacting to the whole Sue Dibny thing. How in the hell would you ever expect her to win a fight against a non-brainwashed Dr. Light? Y'know, the guy it took EVERY TEEN TITAN EVER to take down?

I like IDW's version of both Galvatron and Cyclonus. I get irritated that both are still paired together just as they have been for 23 years now... something more original would have been nice. And I'm not too happy that we've now ended up with Scourge and the Sweeps as well. It's not the characters that bother me, it's the fact that IDW is moving away from having done something original with them to a more traditional version of the characters. That's disappointing.

Yeah, I like the fact that IDW Galvy isn't just "beefed up Megatron", but I'd like to think they could do something even more original.

As I have said before, the implication about Dibny is that she was compentent enough to handle herself, which is why the League let her stick around. Losing a fight with Doctor Light makes her a joke, along the lines of Speedy. She is a character whose name I can no longer say with a straight face.

And, regardless of his "personality", IDW Galvatron is a typical Furman RPG style character.

Seriously? Dude, the then-current team of Teen Titans got their asses handed to them by Dr. Light during that storyline. The implication is that, while he may have been a joke while he was brainwashed, a fully-functioning Dr. Light is a badass who it takes some serious firepower to beat (again, they had to call in EVER TEEN TITAN EVER to take him down). I don't care how 'competent' Sue was, if big guns like Superboy, Starfire, and Cyborg can't take Dr. Light down, there's no way one non-powered housewife had a chance. And to say otherwise is positively insane.

Objectively, you have a point. But, "Identity Crisis" ruined Dibny. There is no way around that.

Ok, so with all this talk about Dibny I decided to wiki her. I don't see how she was ruined or how what happened to her turns her into a joke. About the only thing that was funny about that was the method of death (someone jumping into your brain causing an annuerism is kinda funny. I guess.) But I don't see how the rest of it's funny.

Dibny was a fun character whose defining trait was being useful and competent. Then DC decided to not only kill her, but back-write a rape that more or less nullified that. "Identity Crisis" did not seem to bring in new readers so much as it annoyed established ones.

So, yeah, it is kind of funny.

I want to see Galvatron go down in a similar fashion just to be rid of the character.
