What happened to IDW Rodimus, Is he dead, in a coma or alive and active? Is he still the ship captain or is Megatron his boss now?

1. You can check the wiki or any other resource for random questions about what characters are doing. Or, y'know, read the comics.
2. This should really be asked in the MTMTE thread.
3. Rodimus is still on the Lost Light, Megatron is Captain now, Rodimus is referred to as 'Co-Captain', an honorary title to make him feel better about Megatron being his boss now. A quantum duplicate of him, along with pretty much everyone but Rewind, on an alternate Lost Light got killed, but 'our' Rodimus is still alive and well.

It might just be as simple as plot-contrivance. Hopefully not. But, it might be.

Sorry, Dom, if you were replying to me I deleted my post and put it in the MTMTE thread before I saw your comment.

So, nobody gonna touch on the fact that this issue name-checked THE FALLEN?!?!?

Honestly, this issue pissed me off a little, it's a flashback of something Alpha Trion had forgotten and now remembers, which is automatically a bullshit way to get a character motivation moving again. It's also jarring to have Ramondeli's artwork in this story when he's already doing a current book (Primacy). It was just too much sword and sorcery, too many winks and setups for things we'll learn later from the story's perspective and earlier from publication's perspective. There's also the inclusion of ROTF's "only a Prime can kill a Prime" nonsense which at least got tossed on its ear by actions of our protagonist when he acted against Nexus. And I just felt like the setup for Combiner Wars was just too heavy-handed. This story just felt like a lot of discordant elements smashed together under the guise of being "a long time ago". It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't my cup of tea. Also, Ramondeli is a nice guy - I talked to him for a second last weekend at Comikaze - and his overall art is very interesting and mature (except the faces, he never gets faces locked down for my tastes) but he should focus a little more on visual clarity instead of shadowing scenes to the point of not knowing which character is spewing a speech bubble.

As for Prowl, it'd be fucking cheap as hell to have him rescued from the clutches of Decepticon control only for him to go right back to that, so I'm hoping it's just Prowl being overly-protective of the Autobot goals as he sees them.

I must have missed that. It's a reference I certainly would have enjoyed. I'll have to go back and look for it.

This was the first flashback to Cybertron's past that I've enjoyed in a long time. Most of them have been sordid tales of murder and lobotomy and suicide clinics and the like. I vastly prefer this "sword and sorcery" flashback, even though I think we still get far too many flashbacks. I think we need more focus on the present and less on a relationship that's suddenly been invented, but is supposed to have existed for millions of years thanks to the magic of looking backward.

As for Alpha Trion, I have no problem with him having to have his memory jogged, considering how long he's lived and how much he has to remember.

He's improved a lot since the Chaos storyline when it comes to clear storytelling. I remember many moments of confusion about just what was going on during that story, but his more recent issues are much clearer.

Only flipped through it so far. Catching up on "Avengers" right now and still trying to cry-off the pain of "Earth 2".

There's also the inclusion of ROTF's "only a Prime can kill a Prime" nonsense which at least got tossed on its ear by actions of our protagonist when he acted against Nexus.
They probably brought it up just to undermine it.

IDW Prowl is not supposed to be a nice guy. That was why nobody realized that Bombshell had him under mind-control during the first half of "Robots in Disguise".

Honestly, this issue pissed me off a little, it's a flashback of something Alpha Trion had forgotten and now remembers, which is automatically a bullshit way to get a character motivation moving again.
Yay, back-writes. Between that and the floating time-scale introduced around issue #25, this book is reading too much like something from the big two.

Full resets/reboots are one thing. But, over-use of back-writes to add history (especially when a license running for nearly a decade should have plenty of history) are bad form.

Ramondelli seems to do better with battle-scapes and the like rather than individual characters. (There were some gorgeous pages in "Chaos" and "Autocracy". Amazing stuff.) I appreciate the fact that his art looks more like something that GW would produce than faux-manga or high school sketh-book.

I'd love to see Ramondelli on something like The Covenant of Primus, only not shit. Like you say, his art would be right at home in one of those pseudo-history-book art-showcases GW puts out, and something like that for TF with him at the helm could be amazing.
