Target had those new red-card GI Joes out, and despite my only meager enthusiasm for Joes recently, a few of these things were pretty tempting. The new Cobra Trooper and Viper in particular look pretty sweet, but really, I had to go with the Hazard-Viper (Target didn't have him in the system, so I had to wait by the cash register like a douchebag until they could figure out how much the thing cost. I've got, like, the opposite of TigerMegs's problem). He's pretty nice just as a toy of a guy in a HazMat suit, then you add accessories like his water-squirter-that-I'll-never-actually-use, and his briefcase full of poison, and his house-painting gun, and he's a neat little toy. I think they may be overloading on accessories though. After all that cool, thematically appropriate stuff, why does he also come with dual pistols that he can't even stash anywhere? I mean, I enjoy the idea of a chemical specialist going all John Woo FOR SCIENCE, but it's still a bit confusing. Still he's unique enough to keep my interest, and I'm glad I picked him up over ANOTHER Trooper or something, though that Trooper looks nice enough I might get it anyway.

Ohhhhh, is THAT what that button on the back of his tank is for? Huh, I had no idea, and don't think it was mentioned on the card. Good to know.

The pistols work if you decide to strip him of his armour. Like, what if they get out of the HAZMAT area and there's GI Joes there and they need mobility over all else?

The Viper and Cobra Trooper are basically repacks from the tail-end of the PoC line. I think the Viper has red armbands now instead of blue.

Yeah, you are an asshole, what with trying to buy an item that you might have reasonably thought was in their system. Chump.

Seriously dude, stop apologizing for your hobby. (And, I am saying this as somebody who gets called out for being too apologetic all the fucking time.)

Since the movie, one of the things that "GI Joe" seems to be aiming for is light customizing. Figures come with extra accessories and such to give collectors display options. For example, you can have "Cobra HazMat trooper with pistol" or "Cobra HazMat trooper with chem gun".

I think Prowl is more worried about the "Oh look at me, the guy who needs special customer service assistance," factor. I'll admit I get this but not over toys; we have a local supermarket with a self-checkout and occasionally the thing buggers up and I always feel like a schmuck for being 'that guy who fucked up the self checkout and has to have a human help him.' (Although this is more for my hatred of people than anything else.)

This; and the line's better for it. On the other hand, Renegades Duke comes with four of the exact same pistol...why?

I got one! He's neat. Not blown away by him, but I like his helmet and he's got a lot of great guns. I gave one of them to my RoC Heavy Duty and he's totally improved.

I generally avoid self checkout lines as I know they ultimately cost jobs. i am willing to spend a few minutes of my time to help a cashier keep their job.

But, I can see what Prowl was saying though.

Pretty much this. I feel bad for holding up the checkout lane, and the employees (granted, the gal who helped me was, I think, a supervisor who moved me over into another lane, and was generally super-nice and helpful about everything). I just don't like making them stand there like a jackass while they wait for a floor employee to read them DCPI numbers over a walkie-talkie.

My Figma of Hachikuji Mayoi from Bakemonogatari arrived! Not my very favorite character from the series, but as long as I was pre-ordering Kanbaru and the reships of Senjougahara and Araragi, and AmiAmi had her in stock, I figured I might as well go for completing the whole cast, so I ordered everyone's favorite lost ghost-snail girl. I've never owned a Figma before, and now I wonder why. It's like they took all the little niggles I had with Revoltechs and Figuarts and buffed over them in nice coat of user-friendliness. Swapping out faces and hands is a snap, unlike the nightmarish sea of hatred I have to wade through to get the faces changed on my Figuarts Cure Black and White. And the joints are smooth, but hold a pose, and don't make me worry about snapping them while I'm moving them (with the possible exception of her hair pieces, which probably shouldn't have been made out of rigid plastic). The stand she comes with works really well and pegs into a couple places on her backpack, rather than using a claw or something stupid. Plus she blows Figuarts away in accessories (I don't really care about the extra kneeling leg piece, but the umbrellas are great) and Revoltechs away in extra hands (she has five sets of hands total, and they store in this great little tree to keep them all together, kinda like how I've seen Microman hands store). Max Factory even included a special little ziplock bag to store all the accessories in! It's nice to have a Japanese figure that takes the effort out of playing with it. Plus, I discovered she can use other guys' gear:

According to an e-mail I got, Kanbaru shipped just a couple days ago. She's the one I'm seriously excited for, even more so now that I know these are actually good toys.

God I am such a weaboo sometimes.

And, because JT is da man, I have an actual SDCC haul this week.

JT scored some merchandise and he just sent it along to me because he is a nice guy.

Honestly, when I got home last night and found the box waiting for me, I was a bit nervous. "Is this to be his revenge for last year's 'Merry Christmas'?" I wondered. With some trepidation, I opended the box. At first, it had looked like he managed to pinch a small to mid-sized banner from SDCC for me. But, no, it was not that.

What was it you ask:
-a "TNA Impact" Hernandez" figure. Ain't opened it yet. I might pass it along to a kid or something. Dunno yet.
-"TNA Lockdown" DVD
-"TNA Immortal Forever?" This looks to be a compilation of the early part of the current Hogan angle. I am actually really curious about this one.
-a TNA bag. (Hey, I need to carry all of that stuff in something, right?)
-a "Transformers: Prime" poster...which is kind of wrestling related because of Dwayne Johnson.
-some packing material

Dom
-gotta make some time at the wrestling club to watch those videos....
