Me neither. I'm plenty happy with the Prime cartoon right now, and having just gotten out of all comics entirely, I feel no urge to jump back in. Whatever IDW's doing now may be an improvement over the first 13 issues of ongoing, but I just don't care.Dominic wrote: Dom

Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.

I have supported TF comics through their worst times and if this comes to pass, I'll be getting it. I won't like it, and I won't be proud of it, but I'll do it.

But why buy a bad book? Why reward bad behavior?
If Hasbro and IDW cannot produce good comics, why reward them for producting bad comics? Why perpetuate a problem?
If they cannot produce good comics, then the hobby and the industry would be better off without comics.

It is beyond me how somebody could like "Prime" better than the current ongoing. Costa can write. The staff on "Prime"...not so much.I'm plenty happy with the Prime cartoon right now, and having just gotten out of all comics entirely, I feel no urge to jump back in.

Re: Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.
I really think this is just an attempt by Furman to try to recapture his glory days. If this comes to pass I will at least give it a chance. If it manages to lose me, then Furman will have lost all credibility with the fandom. I seriously sometimes think I'm the last Furman fan in existence, but even I'm willing to admit it when he sucks. Anyway, I've said before that I would prefer bad TF comics to no TF comics because at least if there is one and it's bad, it could improve and become good. If there isn't one there's no room for that. You take the good, you the bad, you take them both and there you have... what happens in just about every long running comic ever.

I think Furman is just trying to collect a regular pay check. I can understand it. But, I am not going to subsidize his laziness.

See, there you go calling him lazy again, could ya just let it go? Bad writing and bad ideas =/= lazy.Dominic wrote: But, I am not going to subsidize his laziness.

They don't, but in Furman's case I don't know. I mean, since we all know that he can write then it seems like bad writing from him is a case of "phoning it in."Shockwave wrote:See, there you go calling him lazy again, could ya just let it go? Bad writing and bad ideas =/= lazy.

Uh, Being Able to Write isn't an absolute in and of itself. Just 'cos you've written a few great stories doesn't mean it's entirely your fault when you write crap ones. What Furman really needs is an editor with their head screwed on tight.
COME TO TFVIEWS oh you already did
Re: Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.
I can see that, but I would just regard it as one of his misses. Not every one is on their game all the time. In fact, most writers wind up putting out crap eventually if they write long enough. Nobody's perfect and neither is Furman and it's unrealistic to expect him to be. Especially when we look at his work. Marvel G1: By all accounts awesome. G2: Awesome. Botcon comics: This is where the Furman hate wagon really gets going. Claims of being "lazy and fanwanky" start to become synonomous with his name. And he only wrote 5 comics! It's amazing to me that just 5 issues can overshadow a previously stellar career
Dreamwave: Kind of hit and miss. War Within was awesome, but a lot of people pulled the Unicron hate card for Armada/Energon. Personally, I liked both runs. IDW: The -ation books get off to a slow start but really go full steam by the second installment. Overall I think it's awesome. Unfortunately, most of the TF fandom seems stuck on not forgiving the Botcon mess at this point and just want him to quit writing, in spite of his (mostly) successful career. Then the BW comic comes out and it's an absolute disaster to the point that, for a lot of fans, it's not only the nail in Furman's coffin, it actually sours the BW show for them too. The Spotlight issues seem to be hit and miss with the fandom. Half seem to like, the other half not so much, although it's hard to tell how much of that is just residual hate from Furman's previous failures.
So what have we learned here? Generally, Furman's a good writer who's had a few low spots, but it happened in a fandom that won't ever forgive him for it.

Certainly. I don't expect a "good" writer to always write great stuff. I'd assumed it was the persistence of bad stuff that got folks mad at him.Shockwave wrote:So what have we learned here?
