You should be running traceroute when we go down to ensure that it is our network and not an earlier hop in the internet chain causing a problem.Dominic wrote:You call it "trolling". I call it "sharing".Except Dom, and that usually just consists of indecent images of himself.
Either way, that is much more difficult for me now, as my secondary phone (which is the easier phone to take butt pics with owing to how it is made) actually fuzzes out naught shots.
I am honestly suprised, and a little upset by, this feature. (This is a pre-paid phone, one of those "includes 30 free minutes" deals...
I actually discovered it while attempting to send Prowl a rebuttal for his unjustified drubbing of "Robots in Disguise" #14.
Either way, I tested it with multiple subjects from various angles, and my butt was consistently blurred.
As far as IP tracing, yeah, JT's onion routing is the best way to go if you are really worried. It might slow down your signal a bit. But, if you are worried about people finding you, then the lost time in an investment in peace of mind.
That said, pinging is nothing. It takes a ridiculous amount of pings to actually cause real inconvenience (and even more to cause real harm). When this board goes down, I ping it, just to see what happens.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

You suck.
Actually, Prowl might be at work too, I messaged him on there and he didn't answer, so.
But I'm open all night! Unless I fall asleep! Which I'm trying not to!

Re: Podcast
I'm sick again, I guess I was too active thinking I had fully beaten that cold and it came back and kicked my ass. Anyway, I can't talk much without coughing and wheezing, I'm NoFunMan.
I don't generally listen to podcasts, what kind of structure do they have? Could we start working on a generic structure "on paper" and fill in the specifics of whatever's popular/interesting at that time, like:
Segment 1: talk about the state of distribution for ~ 6 minutes
Segment 2: talk about the newest figure reveal for ~ 3 minutes
Segment 3: talk about the latest issue of MTMTE for ~ 8 minutes
Segment 4: talk about sightings for ~ 2 minutes
is that something that could work, or are podcasts a little different?

Indeed. I sometimes leave my computer, and Skype, open because I'll be downloading torrents or something, and just neglect to mark myself signed out of Skype.Onslaught Six wrote:You suck.

I've only haphazardly listened to a few podcasts, but the ones I've checked out generally seem to pick one general topic for discussion, then have 3-4 guys just talk back and forth about that for an hour or so. Occaisionally they'll split it into a couple different segments/discussions, or have a guest for part of it to interview/talk with.JediTricks wrote:I don't generally listen to podcasts, what kind of structure do they have? Re: Podcast
Yeah, these things kind of tend to evolve organically rather than being set up in a format from the get-go. I know some of the more established ones kind of BS around for a little bit before they actually start recording so they can get jitters and shit out of the way (some of us get them!) and also to kind of semi-establish some talking points and shit. I actually think some of them even have non-speaking "moderators" who kind of "direct" the podcast with text cues ("you're belabouring the point, you've already covered this, this isn't interesting, transition out, only spend a few more minutes on this, etc.") but I don't know how much that would work.
I'm much more in favour of kind of organically letting things settle into their own groove with different kind of episode-ly (I'd say weekly but I dunno how "weekly" we're doing this) recurring segments. Honestly, if I could point to one podcast that we should...not "try to emulate" or "model ourselves after," but a good kind of...guideline, I guess? is What's On Joe Mind, which is a pretty good GI joe podcast that gathers up the kind of head honcho dudes of 3-4 of the big Joe websites. Of course, they've been going way longer, and can actually get interesting things like interviews with semi-famous people, or get people to cover events for them (they have a "representative" attending the Retaliation premiere in London, I think) or whatever, which we obviously won't have just starting out, but I think from all our forum discussions we have at least a good kind of pool of opinions that would make discussions lively and kind of carry the thing forward.
I haven't listened to the podcast recently, actually, but here's a link to all the episodes (in reverse chronological order, newest first) so you can take a listen if you want:

I was also on a couple podcasts last year...well, actually, I started one, and then it went to hell due to some hardware failure that got cleared up eventually. And I was also a guest on an indie music podcast a friend of mine runs. I can dig these up if you guys want, but they're...kind of not interesting?

Re: Podcast
JT's idea works if people are willing to do the work organizing the show and gathing the information about distributin and whatnot. (Think of real news shows, and how they are organized.)

Re: Podcast
The problem with deciding on a "format" like that beforehand is that it might not actually be conducive to our "group dynamic" or even be very interesting to listen to.
Of course, all podcasts are, partially, an exercise in self-indulgence. I get the feeling we are doing this less for recognition and popularity and more for fun.
However, as I said, I've actually run a podcast before but the podcast was literally "Onslaught and Octo talk about whatever they want for an hour." That said, we did kind of "prep" things out and, when conversations started dovetailing out, we'd just kind of move on to the next thing. I figure we could do that.

Re: Podcast
Might be an idea to just have some very specific "beats" we'd like to hit as we go along, but feel free to tangentalise between them. So long as we can somehow bring it back to the next beat smoothly, we'll get the best of both worlds. That's pretty much how I handle every 'serious' group discussion I've ever been involved in IRL.
COME TO TFVIEWS oh you already did
