I'm sure there will be a few token Predacons that survive the fire in order to sell some toys. It was pretty dopey to have Shockwave's lab so easily infiltrated and destroyed, that whole episode stank of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Also I didn't like the casting choice on Predaking's voice, the guy seems like a competent voice actor but the part didn't really call for that type of voice. If nothing else, I would think something deeper instead of almost regal.

It would be interesting if Predaking were an actually intelligent and cool character, instead of a complete monster.

At this point if any more Predacons show up, I don't think it will be until the "Predacons Rising" movie to wrap up the series.

I just think it would be hilarious if the meaning to the title of episode 10 "Minus One" means that they just rerun episode 9.

With the revelation of the Cyber-matter in the previous episode, Megatron decides they will need a launch mechanism to be able to use it, and tells Shockwave to focus all resources on rebuilding the Omega Lock and to research why the Cyber-matter appears to be so chaotic. Later on, Shockwave reports that they've salvaged what they can of the Omega Lock, but will need human technology to retrofit the damaged components rather than rebuild from scratch. I have to wonder, what human technology would be compatible with the Omega Lock when Optimus didn't think he could rebuild it using the Forge of Solus Prime? Shockwave then discovers the reason the Cyber-matter was so chaotic was due to the synthetic Energon formula being incomplete. Megatron tells him to complete it quickly because he wants to restore Cybertron and Cyber-form Earth. Shockwave politely questions why both, and Megatron replies that because of the realization Cybertron is Primus and Earth is Unicron, the two are linked, and thus to rule only one would be ruling neither.

During a Decepticon raid, Optimus manages to shoot down Soundwave (minus Laserbeak) and bring him back to their base. They question him to no avail, although Soundwave does actually speak for the first time in the series: "Soundwave superior, Autobots inferior", before erasing his data banks. Back on the Nemesis, Shockwave reports no progress with stabilizing the synthetic energon and suggests they capture Ratchet since he created it in the first place. Because they still have Laserbeak, they have him tail Fowler to find the Autobot base and upload the mission to Soundwave directly. The Decepticons launch a raid on a particle collider in Antarctica (why would anyone build a particle accelerator on that continent?) and send Predaking to deter the Autobots (didn't he freeze instantly the last time he was there?). Realizing the only thing such a powerful device could be used for, Ratchet informs Optimus that Megatron is planning on rebuilding the Omega Lock and wants to know if they shouldn't just let him, but Optimus says they cannot let Megatron gain such power. Fowler returns to base and Laserbeak quickly frees Soundwave who easily subdues the Autobots and goes after Ratchet...

So we have the premise for the final few episodes. The Decepticons are working on rebuilding the Omega Lock. Once again it feels like we have a scavenger hunt situation with the Decepticons once again stealing human technology in order to rebuild something (previously, it was the spacebridge), but thankfully this time it seems to be on overdrive with so much happening in only one episode. No doubt, because there are only 3 episodes left. Also feels like there is quite a bit of plot convenience going on in this episode for that same reason.

Soundwave speaks, and he sounds like... Megatron. I really don't understand why they didn't modulate his voice more, they made a similar mistake in the live-action movie to the same detriment, but there Megatron wasn't voiced by the same actor as Soundwave so it wasn't as bad. At first I thought Soundwave was just sampling Megatron, but when I played it back it was more "I'll get you, Gadget!"-style and had a unique modulation, just not enough of it.

Anyway, this episode had dumb things happening, Megatron still has the least-convincing motivation ever, Predaking still talks a big talk but ends up being a punk, and Fowler is the worst secret agent ever!

Get this--rumour is, Welker hated the vocodered-up Soundwave from G1, and has specifically requested they don't do that in future iterations. Which is bullshit, because without it, he's just Dr. Claw again.

This has always been basically the voice I read Soundwave with in the comics, so I'm not bothered by it. I like Soundwave sounding like a harsh, scheming bastard, and his overly monotone, modulated cartoon voice never did that for me.

What's the source on that rumor? I find it hard to believe, Welker has done HUNDREDS of voices over the last 40 years, some with and some without modulation. Why would that bother him with Soundwave? And it didn't really start until DOTM, where I can't see Bay acquiescing to any request of a voice actor. That would really bum me out of that was true.
