I might've actually seen the ED sometime... I seem to recall lots of shots of post-rape mecha lying about as blood falls from the sky.
So, they made a cartoon out of Judas Priest lyrics?

No, seriously, if they did, I'd way watch it.

And it's actually the whole 'obsessed with fanservice' mentality that makes me dislike Godannar so much. I mean, I clearly don't dislike fanservice (I'm watching/loving Strawberry Panic for chrissakes), but when a show goes out of its way to make that the entire POINT of its existence, it heavily contributes to any ire I may feel towards it. The show's magazine ads literally didn't advertise ANYTHING but the fanservice! I dunno, sometimes I like to *pretend* that my anime hobby is mature.

I dunno, maybe it's just because I grew up on the more casual-fanservice style of early 90's Anime (Blue Seed, Birdy the Mighty, which is getting a new show hot damn yes) that I can't take the in-your-face style that's applied these days. Explains why I turned off 'Colorful' after exactly fifteen seconds at least...

I honestly can't believe I'm *seriously* discussing this sort of thing. :?

I'm afraid that's just the kinda world I want to create, Prowl. =p And it's the kinda thing I discuss every other day (IRL OMG), so I'm dragging you all down with me.

Totally in agreement about fanservice becoming the point of a show; it's self-contradictory! It's like building a premise around parody, or irony. Which is why I greatly dislike impressionists. And Family Guy. A story actually needs a STORY, and characters. If something advertises itself as "lulz" I'm likely to stop laughing.

I never intend to carry out any kinda fanservice, should I make it, because I don't consider it a "service". I don't WANT to see Alexis' shirt bounce up, thank you. If I did, there's Rule 34. The internet has completely removed the need for fanservice, and yet they keep trying to titillate us at the cost of the hobby being taken seriously... Sigh!

I think you're being a tad harsh.
It DOES have a story and actual characters that I've gotten invested in. Not DEEPLY, but I hope things work out for them by the end.
As for a plot, it has one. Newlyweds have to work through the trials of marriage while also fighting giant monsters with combining super robots.
I don't think that's been done yet....

Sure it's been done! Most things have, natch. In fact, that also kinda puts me off it, because I greatly dislike "marital problems" storylines. They're always foregone conclusions. If a couple don't belong together in a story, they shouldn't be. If they do, then their arguments can be cute and funny. Yeahh, I gots rules.

And I hope *I* wasn't being harsh, I'm just very set in my ways. But I think all Prowl meant was that if fanservice becomes a major selling point for a piece of fiction (as it seems to be with Godannar; it IS in the ecchi sections of stores, after I took a look), it compromises the depth no matter what. It'll always be there, at the back.

Or, at the front, as the case may be.

Kinda like how Doc Hammer draws pinups for extra cash. I really don't like whenever Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is conveniently sexified, or has to stretch on a bed, or whathaveyou. Orrrr... Triana Orpheus' design at *all*. It's his freakin' ex, ferchrissakes.

I kinda agree about the pinups, his side project is sorta one-note.
But I don't see what's wrong about female characters having sexual qualities. If you're gonna point out Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and Triana, you should be equally irked over Doc Venture's "Cool Hand Luke" scene or damn near anything involving Brock.

Nah, context is everything. Sexuality is a perfectly reasonable subject to deal with in an adult-oriented show, but there's a clear line (for me at least) between Cool Hand Rusty and gratuitous butt-shots directed by a guy who draws pin-ups as a side project.

And Triana isn't even really sexualised; my main problem with her is that she's a projected Mary Sue. But she's not a jerk, I guess. And Dean needs man-points over Hank.

Man, I wish my group would hurry up with subbing the Saint Seiya finale... Ever waited seventeen years for something??

lololololol. You do remember where you are, right? Everyone here remembers Ego Puff Points and A.R.R.S., for cryin' out loud.

Anyways. This WILL be worth it, because handsome teenage boys in constellation-themed armour hitting each other but always getting back up is worth anything.
