Re: Video Games are awesome
That might explain it--I always chose Charmander. (The way it can wipe the floor with the middle Gym leaders is a very acceptable tradeoff.)
Anyway, I'm playing Hotline Miami again now that I have a computer that can actually run it at full speed. This game is frantic and twitchy and requires a lot of on-the-spot thinking as well as tactical planning. It's awesome.

Nintendo announced today the upcoming release of the next Pokemon games: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, revisiting the 3rd Generation, updating them for the 3DS and 2DS systems. It's expected to be released World Wide sometime in November of this year.

I don't get why ninty doesn't just put the old pokemon games on the 3DS store and stop wasting time on making updated rereleases.
Oh wait.
Dosh.

Well Fire Red/Leaf Green and Heart Gold/Soul Silver I think where necessary remakes because the Gameboy games were incompatible with the Gameboy Advance games, making it impossible to transfer anything to the 3rd Generation games. It was great to have those games not only remade so they would be compatible with the newer generation games but updated to the standards of the time as well. It's nice to see Ruby/Sapphire getting the same treatment, so I wouldn't say their wasting time with it. Although I don't think it's necessary to keep updating previous generations beyond that point.Almighty Unicron wrote:I don't get why ninty doesn't just put the old pokemon games on the 3DS store and stop wasting time on making updated rereleases.

Here's what I'd do.
Put the classic pokemon games on a digital distribution store. You have the option of "trading" with yourself. "Trading" that pokemon to yourself will give you a code you can then enter into the most recent pokemon game to receive that pokemon. Simple, clean, efficient.

It'd be cool if it was that simple but there is a bit more to it. They changed the hexadecimal values of the Pokemon with the 3rd generation. So the coding from the first two generations doesn't work with the subsequent generations. That's why they couldn't develop a way to transfer them. They had to remake at least the first two generations for them to be compatible with the newer generation games.Almighty Unicron wrote:Here's what I'd do.

Besides, that's pretty much what they developed the Pokemon Bank and Transporter for, with the intent of solving the issues of transferring Pokemon from Generation 5 and to future games.

Yeah, there's actually all kinds of weird internal reasons why it happens. The most obvious is because the original Pokemon game was basically developed on the fly and Gen1 has a pissload of bugs and problems with it. (Not to mention, there's no Special Attack and Special Defense--just Special!)

Super Smash Bros 3DS
Played a couple hours of it already. I'm a bit rusty, it's been a while since I've played a Smash game. Control wise, it's pretty much what I'd expected although it takes a little getting used to since the DS models don't have the same feel as a Gamecube controller and I find the circle pad is more sensitive than the control stick. I don't have an XL model so I thought the small screen might be an issue but I don't think it's that bad actually. I've lost my character a few times, but with all the action I think the same thing would have happened on a tv screen. It's great to finally see characters like Mega Man in it. I've tried out several new characters and I think he's probably my favorite of them so far. But then I still need to unlock a few more. Overall, I have to say I'm really impressed with this version of the game so far.
I don't own a Wii U, but I might just have to get one for when that version comes out.

I've been playing the first Diablo on the Playstation lately and I just beat it again last night. I haven't played it in years but I still have my old characters saved and it's fun to make new ones using items from those saved characters.

I've been playing through Persona 3 by the truckload myself. Really liking this game now that I've gotten into it, finally, and looking forward to finishing it. Especially with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax having shipped already (and its increased inclusion of P3 characters and story elements) and with the full-crossover Persona Q arriving for the 3DS around December, pretty much insisting that I be done with this game by then.
