Hogan could be sold as just about anything. Hogan is, well, Hogan.
Cena does a good job of playing the face. That is what people recognize him as, and what he is marketable as. He actually but a couple of good promos during a recent angle with Punk where he essentially played a parody of the type of character he normally plays. It was genuinely entertaining. (I have new respect for Cena as a performer after than angle.)
I was not a fan of the 90s. I bailed right around when WWF turned Lex Luger in to a good guy. They ruined an amazing heel....for nothing. The "Attitude Era" was when wrestling got less fun. Everybody was a "bad ass", like most of the other wrestlers.
ECW, from what I have seen, was everything that I disliked about the 90s...only turned up to 11. It was boring and inarticulate....and not funny. (If I want MMA or boxing, I will fucking watch MMA or boxing. But, I want wrestling dammit.)
