Re: June Hauls
Woop, CD day!
- Devin Townsend: Ocean Machine - Biomech
- Devin Townsend: Terria
- God Lives Underwater: self-titled EP
- Live: V
Rather pleased with this lot. GLU are a band I'm still in the process of getting into after hearing No More Love when recently rewatching the underrated Keanu Does Neo Before The Matrix movie Johnny Mnemonic. Got hold of their second album a while back and it's in my To Listen To For A While Because It's New pile. This isn't bad, but has wussy lyrics.
V is one of the last couple Live albums I need, since I love them so. It's a bit odd, a bit heavier and a little toward the side of nu-metal, strange for Live, yet not actually that bad. Wish I'd gotten it earlier.
The Devin ones were great and lucky finds.

Re: June Hauls
I discovered that I had a bit mroe money in my checking account than I had thought, so decided to celebrate by...spending some of it? So I picked up Movie Dead End, because DvD's review made me want him, and Not-Movie-But-Actually-Universe Superion because Holy Crap how did I miss him last time I was at this Target dammit where did all the Bruticuses go? May post full reviews, but for now: Dead End is really unique and cool, I love his whole monster/critter motif. Superion's basic Limb-bots are nifty as hell on their own, and the combined form is pretty cool using the reworked arms '86 happened upon a few months back. The only weak point is Silverbolt. Dear God. I may write a review just to have an excuse to talk about what a crap toy that thing is.

Dead End is indeed neat, but those joint tolerances, yeesh. I fear snapping him into a million small pieces.BWprowl wrote:I discovered that I had a bit mroe money in my checking account than I had thought, so decided to celebrate by...spending some of it? As for Bruticus, he's apparently..not out. Yeah. Screwy. Superion's been sighted all over, no Bruty. Yay the arm transformation, makes a huge difference. Just make sure you fix Silverbolt's misassembled legs! They misassembled them even worse this time, and Stormjet was bad enough. For some reason I was sure you'd gotten Energon Superion too.

Ooh. I'm interested in your thoughts. Seeing that gallery the other day that made him look awesome started swaying me...

Yeah, I fixed the legs. 'Tis one reason I was alread so bitter at him once I finally started playing with him. Then I realized the toy is a tiny, crumbly pile of suck regardless of whether he has knees or not.onslaught86 wrote:BWprowl wrote:Just make sure you fix Silverbolt's misassembled legs! Re: June Hauls
I haven't seen Bruty or Superion yet.
Superion, though, he can basically suck it. My hatred for that particular combiner team is well-documented.
I'm torn on Bruty, when he shows up. On one hand, I always wanted to pick that guy up. On the other, I'm sorta bored with the Energon toys I've already got (except the Terrorcons, who rule), so do I need more?
Plus, I'm kinda sad that the pretty colors used on the Bruty limbs are replaced by kinda drab ones here. Still, I always liked the looks of the limbs, too.
Screw it, when he shows up I'll just get into the booze and make a rational, informed decision.
Oh, got Dead End. He looks kinda neat, was just odd enough to sway me between him and Rollbar.

Re: June Hauls
Did you get EnerSuperion? The EnerGestalts are a mixed bag, but I'd call both of these giftsets better than the originals. Bruty be well worth it, I heart mine. The two of 'em have been on long-term display on top of my TV. The tank mould is really really nifty, one of the best Energon Basics. And the Energon Basics are already pretty awesome.138 Scourge wrote:Superion, though, he can basically suck it. My hatred for that particular combiner team is well-documented.

So I caved on the whole buy three things, get 30% off deal again.. And this time, on toys I have gone on record to say I don't want. Yeah, I'm a sucker for cheap stuff that looks inneresting. So today's haul was as follows:
- Rampage
- Sideways
- Light Brown Breakaway
Sideways is a sure thing, he's guaranteed not to suck horribly, and I already wanted him. Have yet to open him or Breakaway, so we'll see. As for Breakaway, weeell, I really should've waited for the dark brown one, it looks much better. But 30% off and the interesting tutorials on fixing his neck interested me. Colours are truly, truly awful, mind. Yet it was the Spinning Chaingun gimmick that originally caught my attention, as I'd previously written it off as a stock standard boring launching missile. Shall open next and post thoughts.
As for Rampage, the discussion made him sound just different and curious enough to purchase. And I'm glad I did, he's quite the different and intriguing piece of work. Flawed, yet a very interesting toy.
I..I plan to get Demolishor tomorrow. Hate me. :/

Oh, good. Now you can mod him and see if that makes him worth it.

Re: June Hauls
I bought Universe Treadbolt on clearance today for $11.00. I kept hoping to see this particular figure on clearance, since it's one that I wanted, but not enough to pay full price for. It was hidden behind some other stuff back in the clearance aisle, along with a few Universe deluxes ($7.50), Onslaught ($14.00), and a couple of leader class TFA Bulkheads ($20).
Treadbolt is a decent repaint of Classics Jetfire, a mold I still have a great deal of enthusiasm for, primarily for how well it manages to give us both toy and show Jetfire in one package. Treadbolt was originally a Micromaster stealth bomber in blue and yellow (I have the original), and is another one of those obscure G1 characters imported into Universe that I've enjoyed seeing.
