Movie theatre Sequels you wish you could erase from history.

While the first Airplane movie was epic awful,the Second Airplane movie was leaps & bounds worse.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey was a really horrible sequel. the script/plot was awful,the dialogue was more corny/cheesy. the 2nd movie just felt like it was made for toddlers & not adults.

Those Harry Potter movies,I saw the first one,it wasn't that great but not epic awful. I still can't believe they made 7+Harry Potter movies. most of the sequels seems more corny,more cheesy,dragged on forever. some of the movies just felt like they made for toddlers. Most of the actors & actresses in these movies were horrible as far as acting skills went.

And you have just lost any and all credibility. The Potter movies were all pure awesome, you just don't have the capacity to appreciate all the subtle nuances. Airplane is a classic while I'll admit Airplane II was not so great. Bill and Ted are classics as well.

Especially compared to pile of epic crap I'm about to list:

It's Pat the Movie: SNL movies have a dodgy history and I'm about to take us down that rabbit hole. And this is the first stop on that road. The skits were hilarious, but did not translate well to the big screen.

A Night at the Roxbury: Again, hilarious as a few minute skit, but that's about all anyone can handle of the Butabi brothers.

Coneheads: I really can't believe they were able to screw this up. It wasn't bad when it came out but has not held up well over time.

And back to horror movies:

Texas Chainsaw sequels: As with a lot of horror franchises for me, the first one is decent but the rest are meh. Leatherface hasn't been scary since the original.

Friday the 13th: wait, did we cover these already? yeah, I think I mentioned Jason X. Well shit.

Halloween: Again, Michael Myers was scary the first time and that was the last time. Funny story: John Carpenter has said that he owed his career to William Shatner. Other amusing factoid: The same company that produces the "Michael Myers" halloween mask also still produces the same William Shatner "Captain Kirk" mask. They are exactly the same masks. Incidently, the third one was by far the worst of this series.

The 3rd movie was planned half a decade ago but plans got halted/delayed when Rufus/George Carlin died.

I liked the Harry Potter books/movies for a long time, but I lost interest during book six and still haven't seen the sixth and seventh movies. I'm not quite sure why I got tired of it... maybe it just dragged on too long. I don't know. I'm sure I'll catch up one day.

The books, as always, were better than the films. But I really enjoyed the Harry Potter movies. If anything, they got better with each sequel. Save for the Order of the Phoenix, but that's mainly because I felt they cut too much out and changed a bit to much from the book. I still don't get why they made the longest book of the series the shortest of the films.

Happened to me with the Resident Evil games. That story has been dragging on since 1995 with no end in sight.

Anyway, I'm gonna 2nd that Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey sucks. Yeah, it does. Part 1 wasn't much better. Sorry, guys. Just not my thing.

Oh! Oh, I got one!!

The sequel to Interview with a Vampire! Queen of the Damned! The change in tone, visuals, actors, (everything) from the first movie created too much of a jarring effect. It felt like a separate movie, not a sequel.

And about Topher Grace- No matter what role he's in, he's always grating on the nerves. Of course, I've only ever seen him in That 70s Show and Predators, but man! Both times I wanted to strangle him. Maybe that's just how the characters he plays are written?

A quick breakdown of all the Elm Street movies IMO

A Nightmare on Elm Street- A masterpiece. One of my all-time favorite movies. Everything from the concept to the cinematography to the music to the actors- just everything about this movie makes me smile.

Freddy's Revenge- I find it to be one of the weaker entries in the series, but I give it props for trying to be scary. But in doing so, part 2 is also unintentionally hilarious. I laugh every time at all the dumb things throughout.

Dream Warriors- Easily the best of the sequels.

Dream Master- Used to be my favorite. Dropped a few pegs after a recent rewatch. Couldn't put my finger on what had changed and realized it was me.

Dream Child- This is the one I watch the least. It's just. . . well, it's just not very good.

Freddy's Dead- You can tell they chopped the budget in half for this one. Freddy's at his goofiest and most slapstick. Best part about this one was the montage of scenes from other Elm Streets during the credits.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare- A brilliant concept and one of my absolute favorite in this series.

Freddy vs. Jason- The movie overall sucks (I can't stand the lead actors), but the movie is fast paced and the fight between Fred and J is awesome. Usually if I'm watching this, I just skip to the end to watch the fight.

Elm Street ReMake- Total bullshit. This movie made me appreciate even the crappier sequels like Dream Child and Freddy's Dead. It made me appreciate a good kick to the balls. This movie doesn't get ANYTHING right about Nancy, Freddy or the concept in general. They didn't even keep with the tradition of having Freddy lose his hat right before getting killed. BAH!!!


On a side note- I wrote a letter to the writer of the Elm Street comic a few years ago and told him how he was mishandling Freddy. He was writing Freddy as this dude with god-like power that could make anything happen with a snap of his fingers. I told him, that Freddy's not all-powerful like that and has never had the ability to turn people into cockroaches or anything simply by snapping. There's a battle of wills that has to take place (represented in the dream world by physical contact) before he can do something like that.

Perfect example- in part 4 Freddy appears to beat Debbie in a test of physical strength. She's on a weight bench working out, and he's pressing the bar down on her until her arms break. This appears to be a physical test, but it's really a mental one. A test of wills!! If Debbie simply believes she's stronger than Freddy, she will be and he won't be able to beat her. Only after he's convinced her of his (imagined) strength, can he do crazy stuff like transform her into a roach.

[Onslaught Six]

I was disappointed when part 3 started and they killed Dooku within the first 5 minutes (replacing him with the inferior Grievous).

Grievous was supposed to be boss as hell, and then they made him lame and killed him off anyway.

One of the MAJOR Negatives about the Prequels SW films was that the characters didn't have enough developed persona's nor any extensive back stories origins.

Also most of the actors/actresses simply weren't that great as far as acting skills went. Coupled with,the majority weren't well known/iconic actors/actresses like the episode IV,V & VI movies had. About the only iconic Actor The prequels had was Samuel Jackson.

General Grievous,I felt had a complex extensive toy/book bio,that didn't get transferred into his movie character. I felt the movie persona could have been better developed as far as back story origins went,his passion,agendas & how he got transformed into that robot with the inner organics parts inside. Maybe the SW Prequel writers could have even had the character dealing with his organics & robots sides & merge this into his over-all tormented persona. AT BEST THE WRITERS FAILED at doing the general grievous movie persona as it came off very 1-D,Stale,booring,generic & passion-less.
