Chronicle was one of my top movies of last year. Seriously underrated great piece of cinema that knows what it wants to do and executes it well on its meager budget. There's a 'lot' of great young talent stashed away on it that is going to be popping up a lot more in the next few years--the director is already attached to the Venom film, while one of the actors is scheduled to play Harry Osbourne in AmSpidey 2.

First Class rules and I can only hope they don't completely screw it up with Days of Future Past.

Not seeing this movie in theaters was my biggest regret of the previous year, so buying the damn thing when it came out was the least I could do to make up for it. I'm gonna watch it tonight.
I wish I had seen it in theaters too; finances kept me from it, so I downloaded a screener DVD copy instead. I'll buy it eventually when I have money, but this was a damn good movie, and just might be Tarantino's best. Maybe. It's got Death Proof's pacing, though, but in a good way.

Marvel Universe Uncanny X-Men pack: Surprise, I bought this entirely for Rogue. We’re never getting a game-style Sentinel toy, and a 4inch Captain Commando toy is probably a ways off, so if I want someone from the team I mained in MvC2, it’s gotta be Rogue. She’s a pretty good toy, female mold using the improved articulation setup I saw back on the similarly 90’s Cyclops, though her jacket sleeves kinda limit her elbows (and make her lower arms look tiny by comparison, though they actually are proportionate) and her bigass Jim Lee hair limits her upwards head movement, but otherwise she poses well, and the toy looks good (the extra bits added to her legs to form up her boots are clever and the Jim Lee jacket looks nice), though the eyes on my copy are…a might derped. It was the only one Target had though, and I certainly wasn’t taking the chance of missing out. If I do come across a better copy, no big deal, as I kinda wanted two Rogues anyway (I want to repaint one into the alternate color palette I prefer using in MvC2).

The other dudes in the box are glorified accessories as far as I’m concerned. Well, X-Babies Cyclops actually IS a glorified accessory, a single piece of rubbery plastic that looks okay and can hardly stand up (and I can’t imagine has much use to people without the rest of the X-Babies). Longshot is decent as a figure, though his weird three-fingered hands (one permanently in a Shakespearian “ACTING!” pose) genuinely horrify me. He’d make a good base if you wanted to do a David Bowie custom though. Wolverine is just a genuinely terrible toy, being an obviously antiquated mold with those horrible y-joint hips, limited elbow and neck joints, and a cruddy paint job on the whole head. Anyone want any of these guys? I’m probably just gonna chuck ‘em on eBay to make back some of the purchase price on Rogue.

I got a puppy. That's pretty cool. Turns out that my future mother-in-law's neighbor was moving into an apartment where they couldn't take this little dude, and our dog seemed to like him okay, so now we got this little goofball . He's either a young collie and husky mix, or a full grown fox. Either way, he follows me all over this place and lays at my feet whenever I stop moving for awhile, so that's a good goddamn dog right there.

But hell, you guys have seen pica if this dude ony Facebook and twitter by now, probably. I think he's pretty awesome.

Following a tip from /toy/ of all places I jetted down to my local Target and found Generations Springer. Everything you thought this toy would be when pictures of it first appeared from ToyFair, everything people immediately started hyping up about it? It's all true.

I saw Grimlock once at TRU, but I'm not terribly interested in owning that toy. Wouldn't mind finding Blaster though. BH Shockwave and Generations Blitzwing are higher up on the Voyager priority list though.

Working on a review for Springer...

I am--I sold my Classics Grimlock pretty much entirely to pay for him.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I'll see if I can hook you up, I've seen a few Grimlocks around so maybe I can. Money is tight though.

And your Grimlock is currently disassembled on my living room table. I'm going to repaint him into TM Megatron.

-Would really like to find an appropriate Megatron head for this.

One of our dogs is half-Chow, the other is half-husky. So we bought a special tool called "The Furmanator". I just keep thinking "If this fails, then what chance have we?" Because hell, all this dog hair hangs over us like a vast, predatory bird...
