This episode is all about Fluttershy. So, I might be a bit biased.

Damn, I was hooked with the pre-credits opening.

I can almost identify with Fluttershy during the feeding scene. I have never carried food for my cats in my mouth, but dammit I would. And, I have a stubborn cat that does not always eat enough.

Wow, Fluttershy really does not want to deal with that dragon, going so far as to fabricate other fears. Wow.

Pinky is on crack.

Good use of close ups and odd angles to hide the joke reveal, such as with the chasm.

And, they used the cheap way out at the end. I was expecting Fluttershy to fail. (Twilight was polite, and the dragon still acted churlishly. So, I expected more from the end.)

Look Before You Sleep:

Okay, Twilight has the theory of being host down, but not the practical bits. And, there is a built in reason for the slumber-party cliches in this episode.

On another note, this episode is much easier to enjoy if you completely block out the idea of fanfic. Seriously. Just do not even think of it.

Funny, because I’ve just got some sad rumors from somepony who works at Hasbro.
Apparently Hasbro is fully aware of all the sick fanfic/porn/etc. shit. Lately they’ve become too paranoid that this will ruin the shows cuteness/innocence appeal.
So, because of this, they started pulling back and reviewing all the new episodes, even those almost finished. Apparently they’re removing anything that they think might at least remotely reference any of the sick shit in any way (i.e. ‘cupcakes’). They’re compensating the cuts with quickly brought up teletubies –like sequences which, for the economy , are written by some other people (probably from Philippines where the show is being animated ), not the main crew.
People working on the show are not happy with this, they say that the reviewed episodes have become shit, worse than the 80’ties MLP. Most of the writers and others are considering departing like Faust did.
So I hope all those sick fucks are happy, they’ve ruined a nice show.

Just a rumour, I guess, but yeah.

I love being able to rest easy knowing how blatantly untrue that is.

Come on, if all it took was bad porn and fanfic to get a company to scale back/change a show in any way, then every television series ON EARTH would've been meddled with to the point of being unrecognizable. Anyone remember that stupid rumor about why they changed Gwen's design for Ben10? Or why they supposedly stopped showing Erin Esurance ads?

Is Pony fic appreciably worse than other fanfiction? This seems unlikely. Of course, with furries likely involved, one can never be too sure.

Eh, the little bit I've seen of it wouldn't indicate it to be that bad. Certainly not on the level of the regular horrid output of the big two Frightful Fanfiction Franchises, Harry Potter and Sonic the Hedgehog. Most of the 'bad' MLP fic seems to involve writing pretentious crap about one of the characters dieing or getting horribly injured (typically Rainbow Dash) and the ramifications thereof. Or the umpteenth Tyrant Celestia fic, even I jotted down a few pages on that subject (I'm not sure if the fact that the first piece of fiction I wrote in several years was a three-page My Little Pony piece says more about me or the show itself). The rest is just shipping BS. Yeah there's the occasional high-level insane-fuckery like 'Cupcakes', but I hardly think that that's limited to just that franchise. Even Power Rangers had 'Agony in Pink' over a decade earlier.

Hey, the internet'll do what it does best, but I totally agree with the sentiment that New Gwen is a whole lot less visually interesting/appealing than Old Gwen. Of course, I've never actually *watched* the show, so maybe I'm not allowed to comment.
