Funny you should say that. Wait 'til you see the season finale.

Damn.

Just watched the 4th episode. My god, I thought Applejack's dog was gonna kill herself some bunnies!

That scene with the cows was just surreal.

Dom
-watched the episode while polishing an honest to golly wrestling work. (Okay, it was a written "work", and not something in the ring. But, hey....)

All I know is I'm picking the dvd box set up the moment it hits retail. I haven't seen a cartoon this good come along in a long, LONG while.

Just saw the 5th episode.

Is the griffon an old character?

The end actually kind of threw me. I actually thought Pinky was a mastermind for a few minutes there. Turns out that she is still an imbecile. God, Pinky is annoying.

Dom
-was crunching numbers during this episode. MLP works well as audio.

How do you know she *wasn't* actually the mastermind? That scene smacked of "Just as planned". It was awesome, I love Pinkie.

PS Shockwave if you're reading this and you're still interested in Black Lagoon, Gilda's voice actress from MLP plays Revy, the female lead of that show (and Rainbow Dash/Applejack is Hansel and Rarity is Roberta and Spike is Garcia and there's a creepy amount of VAs shared between the two series in general). I've been meaning to make a 'Gilda cusses out Pinkie Pie' video for a while, but I don't have a decent way to capture audio. :?

Yep, still readin' this thread. That sounds like it would be hilarious. If you just want to capture audio clips, I used to do that with the sound recorder function on Windows. Made all sorts of ringtones with it. Ya just drop the dvd in, hit play and record the part you want. Done, done and done. Now on my laptop, I had to have a double male end audio wire plugged into both the headphones and microphone jacks, but it worked.

Also, which one is the 5th episode? I think I've only seen maybe six so far?

Anyway, I think I've realized the appeal of this show. It presents the characters with moral dilemmas that we tend to face every day. And does so in a way that doesn't talk down to it's audience. And any show that does that tends to be good.

The chief virtue of MLP is that the writers know what the show is and how they are planning to write it. Contrast this with TF Prime, which is almost schizophrenically imbalanced.

And, yes, the characters are all balanced, complete with vices that compliment their virtues.

Twilight: Highly intelligent and motivated. But, a bit callous at times.

Fluttershy: Kind and gentle. But, with potentially awful demons inside her.

Rarity: Embodies the best and worst of the patrician stereotype, (as much as one could espect on a heavily feminized show). She is very generous, but also an elitist.

Rainbow: Brave and generally loyal. But, also very ambitious.

Applejack: Honest and hard working. But, prideful and a touch anti-intellectual.

Pinky: Tries to bring out the best in others and spread joy. But, lacks the ability to be serious/mature.

The show was quite clear that Rainbow was behind the pranks. Pinky was honestly trying to appeal to Gilda's nice side. That is more consistent with what is known of both characters.

Dom
-wants Costa to write an MLP episode.
