Please give us some thoughts on the game when you've played it awhile. I'm PC only, no game systems, so unless it's ported to the PC at some point I won't be playing it any time soon. :(

So far I've got to stage 4 in the decepticon campaign, playing co-op with a buddy. These individual levels are LONG, though, so don't feel like you're not getting a lot of bite for your buck. The use of set pieces and timed events is great, although I have to say in earlier levels, if you're like me, and used to games where ammo flows like the vaginal juices of a parisian prostitute, you're going to find yourself out of ammo quickly (and the only "infinite ammo" weapons in the game seem to be on the seekers in vehicle mode, and that may just be for one level), especially in earlier levels. I'm loving the characterization of many characters, Ransack is quickly growing on me, and Fred Tatasciore is doing his best Frank Welker impersonation. The large scale battles in Iacon have been amazing, though occasionally easy to get lost in. So far, the available characters (up to the third level in the 'con campaign) have been Megs, Brawl and Barricade in the first level, the three seekers in the second (who have absolutely phenomenal chemistry- especialyl when part of the level resembles an old school scrolling shooter), and Megs, Soundwave and Breakwdown in the third. Also, ROBOT SQUIDS.

Sounds b'dass. I'd have bought it myself, but I nabbed Left 4 Dead 1 and The Orange Box on 360 the day before. How much did it run you? I keep forgetting to find a concrete price on it.

What made you think there wasn't a PC version? In fact, most multiplatform games these days have PC ports. The only way I played the first Movie game was on the PC, and only because I could pirate it. (I feel less bad about pirating PC games because I don't exactly have the hardware to run them properly, so I really don't see the point in paying for a $50+ game that I'm not going to be able to experience properly.)

I've been playing Mass Effect recently--the original, not the sequel. It's really cool and fun. It's fun space crap without being boring or horribly cliche, and the gameplay itself is really good.

I guess I haven't been paying enough attention. I knew the game was coming out of course, because TFW2005 has been all over it for months. But I got the impression it was game systems only. Nice to know it's available.

Nah, the PC is still bandied about by enthusiasts as the One True Gaming Machine, so a lot of third-party companies continue to put out PC versions. Some of the nuttier ones even still 'insist' that the PC version of any game is inherently better--but given hardware variances and such, that's very debatable. Though it was certainly slightly more true in the mid-to-late 90s when the most powerful consoles were the N64 and the PSX--the PC version of Shadowman is the second-best looking version and has all the extra areas and stuff, it's only outshined visually by the Dreamcast version.

The PC version of WfC shouldn't be dumbed down any in terms of the single player campaign. I've no idea what the online is like, though, so I dunno if you can even co-op. (The campaign co-op with friends able to jump in and out at any time sounds like it's a wonderful thing and I love it.) The only big thing, for me, would be control scheme--but you can buy an off-brand USB wired Xbox 360 controller for something like $20-$30 these days, instantly solving that problem. (This is especially cool for me since I think the 360 controller is the best controller that's ever been designed. So comfortable! And it takes all the problems I had with the GameCube controller and 'fixes them.')

Quick update, during one level of the Autobot campaign, Prime, Ironhide and Warpath get to ride giant cybernetic slugs with turrets on them. Let me repeat that.

Giant cybernetic slugs with turrets.

For some reason the innards of cybertron hosts a shitload of cybernetic invertibrates. There are giant robot squids, giant robot slugs and giant robot spider-worm things. 'Sweird.

"Dweller in the Depths". That might mean Quintessons at some point if this series continues.

They're called "space slugs" and they're apparently a part of Cybertron's natural defense systems, as they eat away at dark energon crystals. Cybertron's core speaks to prime directly in this game, and gives him the matrix, though it's never actually called Primus.

I'm really diggin' the multiplayer, but scientists are beast. They're the only class that can heal AND the only class that can fly, not to mention their turrets are redonkulously powerful. Shockwave's of this character class, so I've been playing him heavily.

I browsed the Wal-Mart PC game section today, and War for Cybertron is $40. I'm tempted to go ahead and pay full price instead of waiting six months to a year for the price to drop, which is my usual habit.

I'm so used to playing games using the keyboard with my left hand and the mouse with my right that I'd likely customize the controls that way. That would be less of a learning curve than learning my way around a game controller.

Mm, true. I do love me some WASD. I just grew up on controllers, so it's kind of a force of habit to prefer them--even after years of playing classic NES and SNES games with the keyboard via emulation. Console WfC is $60, so I miiiight wait a little bit on it. Dunno yet.
