Animated Series discussion thread (spoilers allowed)

Some cartoon with big chins and a little girl that got beloved by fans and taken off TV to make way for a different show on another network. Yeah, that's fair.

Again, Optimus and crew weren't the highest of priorities. For all we know, "enough time and resources" could be a week and a double-A battery as far as Ultra Magnus is concerned.
There is no mention of "oh by the way, we would have been here sooner but we thought you were dead". To me the episode indicates they've been looking for them this whole time.
I'd like to think that Magnus is a competent enough leader that he wouldn't come out and tell the guys that they had written them off in the space of a week.
And if they had written them off as dead, you'd think the Autobots would have still thought to conduct a search for the Allspark make sure it wasn't in Decepticon hands.
Maybe they did try searching for it before, but weren't able to get a lock on it until that explosion of Allspark energy at the end of season 1?

I'd think having the Allspark onboard their ship with a Decepticon ship closing in on them would have bumped them up a bit on that list of priorities. If nothing else, the Elite Guard should have gone to make sure the Allspark didn't fall into Decepticon hands.

Probably, but still if that's what they had done, it's pretty careless to end the investigation so quickly when something like the Allspark is at stake.

I dunno, the show seems pretty inconsistent when it comes to detecting the Allspark's energy.

Except up until those five minutes where the Decepticons were chasing them, the Allspark was lost somewhere unknown in the Universe. For all they knew, the Decepticons had it 'then,' too.

Except, well. Here's the thing: 'You're' placing a lot of unnecessary importance on the AllSpark that Magnus et al are distinctly Not. Even if the overall story arc of S2 is distinctly "Look for AllSpark fragments," it's not like 'Prime and co.' are actively searching for them. They just kinda wait until one falls into their laps.

Nobody said it made sense from a typical point of view, but sometimes you have to remember that these are characters in a story, and sometimes they do things that *don't make sense.* Of course, what I really want to say is that "They're people, and sometimes people do things that don't make sense," but Transformers aren't people, they're robots. Very people-like robots.

If that had been the case, Cybertron would have been in Decepticon hands long ago. Remember, the Decepticons wanted it to conquer Cybertron. The Autobots would most certainly know if they had the Allspark.

I don't think you're placing enough importance on the Allspark, and I don't think the Autobots do in the show either. It's a source of TF life. It's their most powerful weapon. It's the most powerful source of energy. If the Decepticons get control of it, it's game over. Yet as you point out the Autobots aren't even actively searching for the shards, instead, waiting for the shards to find them. It's extremely irresponsible given what even the shards are capable of.

And I'm not saying that's not great, but the big thing is...it doesn't mean the 'TFs' have to follow that sense of logic.

At any rate, I'd imagine that using the AllSpark in that manner isn't exactly *needed* since there's tons of TFs running around, apparently, and the Autobots aren't at war or anything, so.

To draw a certain parallel, there's our own human energy crisis. Perhaps if we'd thought ahead and such, we'd have stopped using gas a long time ago or slowly phased it out, but we didn't and now it's an issue. Perhaps the Autobots are doing a similar mistake right now.

The Autobots certainly appear to be capable of doing with out it. But if the Decepticons get it, if for nothing else, they'd use it to conquer Cybertron. As such, that gives the Autobots enough of a reason to pursue the Allspark in order to protect it.

Perhaps this did not occur to these flawed and complex characters.

Or the writers didn't think of it. Oh well. Shut up and watch Angry Archer shoot things. Forsooth!

My guess is the writers didn't think of it. And like andersonh1, I'm really not a fan of the human villains either....

No, that'd be the human villains in the show.
