I play(ed) a dastardly reporter. I posted a couple of episodes that I appear in over in the podcast thread as examples of why I should *not* be part of the podcast.
I want to be a manager, but will have to work very hard to be ready to appear in front of a live audience. There are a few more promos that I cut that have not aired, (and I am kind of hopeing they do not), and one I still need to cut (handing the job over to somebody else).
I want to kill the character off to make sure that he stays gone.
Dom
-would want to be a heel.

Re: wrestling video
If I ever have to move to the States I'll try out for them and you can be my manager. Our gimmick can be that we wind each other up.
Actually if I got back into the shape I was in four-or-so years ago back when I still practiced martial arts regularly, and felt it was worth the constant possible injuries, I'd *totally* try out for pro wrestling! Always seemed like a fun industry, moreso than creative media. Too many desks. Not enough folding chairs.

Re: wrestling video
Gomess, do you mind if I submit the "antagonistic manager and wrestler" idea to the promoter?
Dom
-why not?

Re: wrestling video
Haha, of course not! Just be sure to credit your antagonistic friend.
A friend of mine who LOVES wrestling always says "a manager MAKES a heel", but they always seem to be on the same side! It'd be nice to see a manager and talent who see each other as holding them back.

Re: wrestling video
I will likely be talking to the promoter about storyline ideas in a day or so. Full credit will be given.
Wrestlers and managers turning on each other is in and of itself not new. But, having it be the core gimmick is not something that I can recall having seen.
Dom
-still remembers Chainsaw turning on Bull Montana.

Re: wrestling video
Yeah, it wouldn't be a sudden angle that'd break them up; it'd be the standard. Could be funny stuff.
Anything to support indie wrestling after I saw some WWE, as they call it now, at my aforementioned mate's flat. Thoroughly unexciting stuff except for a couple of guys.

Re: wrestling video
What, you do not like "Cena keeps winning"?
CM Punk's "totally legit shooting" makes it worth watching though. No joke, I am waiting for the Halloween episode when the Muppets show up.
Dom
-gonna see the promoter tomorrow.

Re: wrestling video
Cena seems like a genuinely good guy, it's a shame that McMahon(?) has basically decided he's the flagship character and everyone else sucks. To me, though, he's like if Hulk Hogan actually gave a crap.
The aforementioned friend LOVES CM Punk. And looks like him. It's very odd. I must admit I like him too, if only for the fact that his theme music isn't Generic Emo or Generic Rap. What happened to the themes since the 90s?! I used to love the diversity!!

Re: wrestling video
You are the only person I know who actually like Cena. I have nothing against him. But, I can see and accept him for what he is. He is the marketable kid-appeal wrestler. He is a clean cut hero type.
I generally find him and his matches kind of boring. But, I ain't the demographic that Cena is being pitched to. Somewhere, there is a kid who just wants CM Punk to shut up so Cena can defend his belt.
The attitude era made wrestling less colorful and less articulate. What I think is funny are the toyhacks who are in to wrestling who cannot get in to the modern stuff as much as the old stuff (from the 80s and early 90s)...but only like the "realistic" style of the 90s and later.
It is very important to be a tough guy you see. Real athletes and true bad asses are the gold standard, because uh, wrestling is real. It is very real and deadly serious you understand.....uh.....
Dom
-because ECW was great or something.

Re: wrestling video
To be fair, Cena used to be 'awesome' when he was an early heel. And I really wish they'd get it over with and turn him already. I mean, fuck, they turned Hogan heel (and face and heel and face again) and it was one of the greatest successes of the mid-90s. It revived Hogan's career.Dominic wrote:You are the only person I know who actually like Cena. I have nothing against him. But, I can see and accept him for what he is. ECW was great! When it was great, anyway. The rest of the time it really really sucked, but the raw talent and passion from those early years is something I have only seen matched in RoH or Japan in the mid-to-late 90s.-because ECW was great or something.
Come to think, the 90s were just a good time for wrestling across the board.
