MP Rodimus Prime

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

Still passing.

Yeah, it looks just like the cartoon. But Rodimus sucks and I already have two of him.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Ya know, given how expensive and difficult to find the 2006 mould is, I might as well get this one.

The 4 mode thing is a *huge* selling point. Mind you, I will still have to wait until money stops being an issue. But, this thing is even with Grimlock on the priority list.

Eh, Animated Shockwave did it on a more impressive scale. There's way more differences between Longarm and Shockwave and their respective vehicle modes than Hot Rod and Rodimus have. Seriously, what's this toy going to have going on past a faceswap to change between Hot Rod and Rodimus's robot modes?

I'm still probably getting this, mind, since while I don't really care one way the other about Rodimus's character, I rather like his design (I got the Revoltech for this reason). Plus I want to encourage Takara as much as I can to produce a Masterpiece Galvatron next.

Yeah, it's hard to tell if there's that much of a difference between the two robot modes, but the vehicles actually look like there's something to their transformations. Here I was worried for a minute that it'd be "put trailer on car, call it good".

Yeah, but while Shockwave's tank mode is a reasonable if unrealistic vehicle, the crane is really a stretch. The figure works because the vehicles don't adhere to a great deal of realism. It would be far more impressive to see something with four far more concrete and recognizable modes.

I'll probably wait for the US version like with Grimlock. It''ll be way cheaper. Unless I get rich and suddenly go on an MP kick.

I don't know what it is, but I've always had a thing for Hot Rod the toy, and always disliked Rodimus Prime, and I've never liked the character because... well, you all know. But this seems tempting because of the toy itself. I will likely wait till the US release, although TFW is now saying there's a rumor that the US one won't come with the trailer, which seems odd.

I'll worry about this when we know something more, but it seems awfully early to tell. I can see how it would happen, save on the American retail of this figure and all.

But, if the trailer is part of the figure, Hasbro will effectively be cutting costs by selling an incomplete figure.

If that happens, the American release will be easy to skip even at deep discount.

I agree it's too early to be sure, but like you, I can totally see Hasbro doing that. Especially since Rodimus Prime is considered a total waste in the US, while Japan has a fetish (that's not always a sexual term, folks) for Prime characters which might make more sense to release there.

Yeah, Hasbro does that from time to time with Japanese import releases.

Unlike you, I am unsure if I want the trailer that much, it's not important to me and probably will quadruple the US price since it's so large.
