I'd offer support, but I find manga really un-fun to read, and wouldn't ever buy it. I barely buy any comics at all, and never buy DVDs, so.

CDs, now, they're a different story..

Oh man, if you guys think toys eat up shelving, they've got nothing on Manga. My second bookshelf, which I got this Christmas, is already about half-full. Of course, I also put toys on the shelves in front of the books, so I'm not totally swarmed...

Speaking of addictions, I fear that I could end up walking straight into another one. See, those DC Universe Crisis figures just started showing up in stores (All the Black Adams had already been snagged, naturally). And while I don't want ALL the toys in the first wave, this is a line that could REALLY get a hold on me as it continues along. Anyone else looking at these? After Joes, they look to me to be jipping you a bit in terms of accessories. As in, there aren't any. Yowch.

Oh hell yeah. I've got a ferocious addiction to that stuff. Cut back some, but for awhile there I was drinking one, two pots of coffee a day and sleeping maybe three hours a night. It was...kind of fun, actually.

I've discovered, as far as the collecting thing goes, that if I wind up with just one item in a particular line, it'll lead to more. F'rinstance, I was intending to just get Buzzer, and maybe the rest of the Dreadnoks. That didn't work.

My newest thing's been the Doctor Who figures. Though...like Prowl was saying with the Crisis line, no accessories, and the Who figures don't even have too terribly much in the way of articulation, either. They've basically got nothin' but dead-on likenesses goin' for 'em, but I figure that's enough.

Sucky small newsprint books is what I don't dig. Them vs. large glossy graphic novels? Nooooo contest. Although I very rarely buy those, even. I'd LOVE to get a full set of Sandman's TPBs, or Transmet.

Warren Ellis does his level best to make sure that DC keeps Transmet TPBs in print just for people like you (or me), that really need a complete library of it. Since Transmet's creator-owned, he can make it happen. I recall him saying that we won't likely see an oversized version of Transmetropolitan, because if he agreed to that, they'd take the regular version outta print.

Yeah, I'm also a member of Warren Ellis' "Whitechapel" boards, too. That guy's one of the best.

I've never liked "the hunt", I like "the have". I'm all about the experience of the toy, not the finding. They won't let me do catch & release on figures though, that'd require letting me open, play with, and then return for a full refund - they're very displeased with this little move lately (TRU used to have an awesome satisfaction guarantee in the '90s where you really could, but that is long gone now).

After the earthquake last week which knocked down over 100 of my figures - Star Wars and TF - I've become acutely aware that even "the have" is not as rewarding as it once was, and I'm not sure where I want to be in collecting. It's my hobby, but at the same time it's my burden. So for the next few weeks, I'm going to be very introspective of this.
