I keep hearing about this highway design complaint, but quite frankly I've never seen it. We're not ever given any indication that the hill they'd be driving on doesn't simply *end* and there's a big bridge there.

I know, you're thinking, "But geography doesn't work that way!" It does in some places, lemme tell you. Those guys who design highways are crazy.

You can clearly see hills of Earth on either side of the freeway and overpasses of normal streets passing above the freeway up until the scene shows Bonecrusher and Optimus tumbling over the side of a bridge. It's clearly a completely different segment of the freeway, not at all where Prime was initially tackled by Bonecrusher a second earlier.

I have seen highways that are similar to what O6 describes.

And, Barricade just wandering off, without explanation in the movie, is just sloppy.

I haven't seen any freeways like what is shown in the movie. Not in the western United States at least were those scenes were filmed.

I don't agree. Characters wander in and out with movies all the time. Granted, not following up on him makes it strange, but it still leaves us with the possibility for him showing up again in the future.

The without explaination part that Dom mentioned is what makes it sloppy.

I still don't agree. The Decepticons aren't the most trust worthy, even to each other. It isn't a stretch to believe he might cut and run, very much like we saw Starscream do at the end of the first movie, and as both Megatron and Starscream do at the end of the second. Granted, we actually see them getting out of there, but they are more important characters than Barricade is and it still leaves open the possibility we could see Barricade later. Now if Barricade never shows up in the movies again, then I'd call it sloppy.

Just because he wasn't in the second doesn't mean anything. There is still a 3rd movie planned.

It's sloppy. Period. The proof is the fact that the last time we see Barricade, he specifically says he's on his way to the last battle in the first one and then we never see him again. It's therefore established IN CONTINUITY that he's supposed to be there and he's not. It's sloppy.
