GAH. And a fantastic tally ho accent. I now want that so very badly.

Still, I heart me some Ransack, and coincidentally, bought him today. Also Dead End and Depthcharge. It was Buy Three Things, Get 30% Off Them All sale day, I dunno why. Third thing would've been Sideways if they'd had more than preview Deluxes.

"CURSES! Foiled a-gain!" Yes, you read my meaning precisely. Well, we can still assume that's exactly how he talks, at least until he shows up in anything canonical.

ROTF Sideswipe. I actually really like this dude, the transformation feels totally movie like and plausible, the fake out pistons and linkages and moving details are pretty impressive for a toy of this size, the headsculpt is sweet, but I just have one complaint: in a universe where Optimus Prime has giant monster toes, why does Sideswipe not even have feet?

Because he's TransTech Cheetor.

Picked up my Pre-Ordered copy of Knights in the Nightmare today, and the artbook that came with the pre-order, swish. Then went down to Barnes & Noble and saw that they had Negima vol. 22, and picked that up. Double swish.

- Dlx Chromia - nice bike, love the stand that has sweet guns integrated in. Transformation has some interesting ideas. Robot mode unfortunately is a failure, just not enough of a whole thing, and certainly not enough of a robot. Not stable either. Mech alive feature is a fantasy in their heads, no such item on here. Too bad, there is potential, just wasn't delivered upon.

- Scout Depthcharge - nifty alt mode, adequate transformation, pretty keen robot mode. Basic bot layout, with decent sculpted detail and a good angled armor look, kibble actually is the lower legs so not really kibble, shoulders have a missile pod. Good articulation too. Attack mode is kinda silly but not necessary. Not standout crazy awesome, but a solid entry.

- Scout Ransack - alt mode looks fabulous, wild, totally cool as a villainous biplane. Transformation is fairly busy and really moves stuff around. Robot mode is skeletal on purpose, looks almost ghostly, pretty cool stuff and well articulated. A little flimsy tho, but not terribly so. Attack mode is nothing. May not be everybody's taste, but quite cool in my book.

On Ransack, this morning I figured out a much nicer attack mode, it's a Gerwalk mode and it looks great. Just do the attack mode wings and chest, fold the head in, fold the waist back, and bend the knees forward, it's swank.

The sad thing is that I know if he had been an Animated figure he'd have a twirly mustache and a bomber cap. And maybe real legs.
What do you mean? He does have real legs. Real Go-bot legs. X-P I actually don't mind his legs, the only thing that bugs me is the thigh panels sticking out diagonally.

He's a wheel-foot, in the movie design he doesn't even have those toes. :(

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

So after more or less dissing the ROTF line so far, I picked up four deluxes the other night: Bumblebee, Soundwave, Breakaway and Rampage.

But you probably would too, for a mere 5.24 each!

Our Dillon's Marketplace (part of the Kroger food chain, but with a large retail area) has the ROTF toys for 25% off this week, not bad in itself, but somehow one of the stores here (and only one) has the deluxes at that ridiculously low price. I'm thinking it's a pricing error, but who's complaining? ;)

Bumblebee's... Bumblebee (like the new headsculpt), Soundwave has some nice detailing and cool versatility (no end of fan-mode variations), Rampage is kind of okay (still not sold on the movie Constructicons, but for the price I thought I'd give it a shot), and Breakaway is surprisingly cool! I didn't think I'd like him at all, but he's actually a lot of fun.

Now to go back and try to get Sideswipe at the same place...
I disappear.

Mediocre toys become wonderfully grand toys when they cost half price. It's why Basics used to rule--they were only five or six bucks, so if they had a few tiny niggly issues, it was only a five buck toy. You expect less.

Wow, nice. I'd wind up getting a pile of those guys for that price, myself. Except the whole "room to display 'em" issue. Transformers on super-sales or clearance used to totally be my thing, but I've sorta fallen off that wagon lately.

I'm also surprised to see that Dillon's are still alive. They all folded up 'round hereabouts. Which is sad, as they had some of my favorite grocery-store Chinese.

My brother graduated Friday night, so my aunt took us out to dinner for a celebration on Saturday. My brithday occurs on Tuesday, so she went ahead and gave me giftses. Also got $20 from the father's girlfriend.

-Fifty dollars.
-Transmetropolitan volume 2. Turns out they're totally reprinting the entire thing in new TPBs with different numbering, so I can just slowly catch up on those as they come. Nice.
-Rurouni Kenshin manga volumes 14 and 15. The next two I needed. I really like this series. Sure, it's a good lot of mindless shonen action, but it's usually not too garbled down in nonexistent magical yelly command powers or anything, and the bad guys usually have nice philosophical, moral or political motivations.
-Apparently she also pre-ordered All Hail Megatron volume 2 for me? Sweet.

So, with some of that money, I picked up Sideways and Ransack. Ransack rules. Expect thoughts on Sideways later.
