The hips are clearly kreoforming, they use the jet parts from 2 copies of Runway as the thighs (as well as bolstering them with the gun from Windshear for each in one of the 2 possible combines). The arms are really just holding Heavytread's cannons with Windshear and Runway attached. The other mode uses a third Runway's weapon as the shoulder. It's too much cheating, facade-building, and merge parts for my tastes, but it's clever.Dominic wrote:Thanks Sparky. That is the thread.
JT, what do you mean "Kreo-forming"? I am not seeing it.
Given how light the plastic is, I am not sure that weight would be a problem on Runway's shoulders or the super-combiner's hips.
Runway's shoulders barely can stay on the figure as-is, much less bear any weight. Basically, any lateral movement would cause those ball joints to fail spectacularly. That's ultimately what makes me pass on it.
That's not what I mean by kreoforming, I mean it in the classic sense, they took parts from the figures and had to remove them and reassemble them on the figure rather than just transforming.TM wrote:Jedi,Might be on to something. Usually they guys who create these fan made combiners. Do use various building blocks toys sets, rubber bands, tape, glue & so forth.
It's not a difficult layout really, just use the gun parts as merge parts and the rest is easy. The only oddball is how Heavytread's connection point is jammed into one of the barrels of Runway's weapon as a thigh. The rest is entirely standard 5mm peg and hole connections.
In the 3-set mode, the turret shouldn't be held by the jet hand at all, the side pegs shouldn't be attached to anything, you can see that the jet hand is not near it, it's folded down and facing backwards at an angle where it couldn't grip the turret shoulder. No, the turret shoulder is attached to the Windshear gun which is then attached to Windshear's forearm, that's the only way that shoulder is attached to the combiner.Dom wrote:Another source of difficulty is getting the tank's gun to work as a shoulder connector. I am not sure if it is question of the turret's side pegs being too small of the jet's hands being too loose.
In 2-set mode where the turret that turret isn't designed by the combiner arms to be held that way, the pegs are too short, they get jammed in at an angle that should fall apart at the drop of a hat.
It can be done insomuch as it's a stack of parts vaguely held together in one pose viewed from one angle, but with those parts not designed to bear that much weight and some elements cheating to get by, it's destined to fall apart or break entirely. So, yeah, it can be done. I even came up with a slight tweak to the legs on the two-team super-combiner mode. But, the frustration involved goes up proportionate to the number of Minicon teams you are trying to combine.
