OTHER regrets,I should have bought that Takara 2010 Unicron years ago when it first was release on various imports sites for around $119. Now the Thing is worth over $170 to $250+ on the secondary market.

I agree,I believe the "BETTER" word to describe the newer Megazord that was in stores a few years ago is re-imagined". as they designed the newer megazord based off the old live show footage & old toy designs.

Examples of Re-imagined TF toys is the movie-verse,as they made newer ROTF & DOTM toys based off the CGI movie designs. some movie-verse toys that got re-imagined toys were as follows: Ironhide,Optimus Prime,Bumblebee,Starscream,Ratchet,Barricade,etc..

Examples of Re-imagined TF toys are the MP TF toys. which the engineers tried their hardest to re-imagine the newer MP TF toys based off older cartoon episodes & older toys.

Generations 30th Titan sized Metroplex is a excellent example of a re-imagined toy. as the designers tried their hardest to re-imagine the 30th titan toy based off old cartoon episodes & the older 1986 Metroplex toy designs.

And I didn't realize they had shrunk it somewhat, making it a new mold. Still, it might as well be a retool. The Legacy Megazord pretty much is exactly the same as the original mold, save for new knees (and scale), hence why I thought it was simply a retool. It's not significantly changed to make that much of a difference between them.

This kinda sounds like the difference between the big ass Energon Megatron we got here in the US vs the smaller one that came out in Japan. Same toy but smaller? Or like Cybertron Supreme Starscream vs the deluxe version.

Well the general shape and a decent chunk of the engineering in the 2010 Megazord is rather different from the classic version. I'll wait to get home to pull up reference pics, but offhand I can tell you that the shoulderpads are pretty different, and the whole thing is slimmer (and slightly more show-accurate) in general on the 2010 version compared to the more boxy original. Like TM said, it's less of the same toy just downsized and more of a completely new toy based on the same general design.

It's not that dramatic of a size difference like those figures are. It's really only very slightly smaller than the original. I found a picture of 4 versions of the Megazord, the original, the Legacy version and two posable figures that don't separate into individual zords. You can see there are a few minor changes between the original and Legacy, with the biggest change being the legs giving the figure new knees and a very slight slimmer appearance, but it's still essentially the same figure.
