I couldn't decide if I wanted a shotgun or an MP-5 in the photography for my new album First Blood, so I spent $16 to buy chintzy Dollar Store toys of both. The machine gun lights up, vibrates (???) and makes dumb machine gun noises; the shotgun just makes dumb noises and has a hilariously dumb system in it to eject plastic shells like it's reloading. I obviously don't need these features. The machine gun came with a "working strap" which I thought might be cool, but it is hilariously undersized even for a kid and looks ridiculous on an adult like me.
Obviously I wouldn't have bought these if they didn't seem like they'd be at least semi-appropriate in size, though, so I got what I needed. I'd be worried about the paintjobs looking realistic or something if I weren't going to bathe the pictures entirely in red afterwards, so that's not even a concern.

Shit arrived from Amazon: Carnage - Minimum Carnage, which'll bring me up to having all of Yost's Scarlet Spider series in collected form, and maybe let me know if the current Venom series is something I might want to read (I've heard nothing but good things about it). Also got the first volume of Cannon God EXaXXion, Kenichi Sonoda's series that he did after Gunsmith Cats. I've been meaning to check it out and I needed something to bump my order up past $25, so. My one misgiving so far is that it's printed in left-to-right format, as opposed to the manga-typical opposite direction, making me think this might have been 'flopped', but given that this is Kenichi Sonoda, it's hard to say (Sonoda's a notorious westaboo, and has done comics in left-to-right format before). Should be cool though.

Friends from England are visiting my parents and arrived last week. And they brought stuff:
A Transformers T-Shirt: It says Keep Calm and Hail Megatron with the Decepticon logo on it.
Also, snacks. 2 packages of sherbert lemons from Tesco, Walkers bacon flavored chips, and some other candy. All good stuff.

I take it you're not a fan of the "Keep Calm" shirts?

-Legends "Beast Hunters" Prowl: It is sitting in my hall. Review coming soon.
-base set of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" trading cards (as payment from Lewis for helping him break down 2 or 3 master cases.
Dom
-doubting that Prowl will be enough to get me back in to the line...

Because you keep buying random stupid shit like that instead of some of the actually good toys. Why do you need a Legends version of Smokescreen repainted into the TFPrime version of Prowl?

I do not have Smokescreen. And, I like Prowl.

But why did you even need the Smokescreen mold? Do you absolutely need a legends-scale grey car Autobot? The G1-themed legends Prowl that came out a few years ago is a fine representation of Prowl at the scale.
I dunno, it just seems so...arbitrary to make this your Big TF Purchase after pointedly being on hiatus for a while, and to claim to pin 'getting back into TF toys' on something like that seems to just be setting the whole thing up for failure.

As some of you may know from FB, I lost my job today. Great.
