I'd say the ultimate test is to have children get familiar with it, and try to draw it from memory. I drew lots of Autobot and Decepticon logos as a kid--not so much Maximals or Predacons.

I learned to draw the Decepticon and BM Maximal symbols from memory fairly quickly in my youth, the Autobot symbol was too complex for me (I still don't think I can do it from memory...yeah, just tried, couldn't pull it off). It's just got too many bits making it up.Onslaught Six wrote:I'd say the ultimate test is to have children get familiar with it, and try to draw it from memory. Anyway, the BH Predacon symbol's not too bad, only has a few 'components' as it were. Like Sparky said, it's the extraneous spiky bits that make it appear more 'complex', but it's still not too bad. I personally think it does 'look' like a faction logo.
Like Six, I really like that proto-BH Predacon logo.
Transtech had kickass faction symbols, it's a shame those never got used anywhere (with the glorious exception of Wal-Mart DOTM Sideswipe).

The Decepticon and Predacon logos gave me some trouble learning to draw from memory as a kid, but I thought the Autobot and Maximal symbols were pretty easy personally.BWprowl wrote:I learned to draw the Decepticon and BM Maximal symbols from memory fairly quickly in my youth, the Autobot symbol was too complex for me (I still don't think I can do it from memory...yeah, just tried, couldn't pull it off). What, really Prowl? It's easy! The forehead shape, then the nose, then the crests, the eyes, the "tears" or panel lines or whatever, and then the mouth.
At one point, I wanted to be a TF comic artist, so I drew lots of fanart.

I've always been pretty good at the Decepticon and Autobot logos with the Autobots being the easiest. I almost always seem to get the proportions wrong on the con logo. I've never or seldom tried any of the others. I tried the BW Max and Pred logos at one point but I think I had trouble remembering them perfectly.

Yeah, but the way the proportions of everything are dependent on all the pieces 'fitting' together just so really screws me up (I have a hard time remembering the shape of the forehead, and I always get the proportions of the nose wrong, or forget where the mouth goes or how it's put together...). Look, there's just a lot to it, okay? So many little bits...Onslaught Six wrote:What, really Prowl? It's easy! Yeah, I am...definitely not an artist, and am generally terrible at recalling what things look like from memory. At one point, I wanted to be a TF comic artist, so I drew lots of fanart.

I like the current BH Predacon logo as it reminds me of the faction symbol the 1990 Takara Brave toy line Dyno-geist & his crew used.
Re: Which Predacon logo do you like more?
Do we really need subfaction logos? I mean, how many logos can you slap onto something before it just starts looking ridiculous? We didn't really start getting into this stuff until the later end of BM with the Dinobots when they had their own logo. I mean, really the standard two factions aren't enough? And I'm talking subfactions, so as to differentiate from situations like the UT where there were actually three separate factions with the minicons. Because, even then you still only had one logo on a toy at any given time.

Do the Predacons have two logo's on them? The picture's I've seen of them, I've only seen this new Predacon logo on them.Shockwave wrote:Because, even then you still only had one logo on a toy at any given time.

Yeah, in Beast Hunters, the Predacons are actually a full-fledged bonafied Third Faction, or at least that's how the show is trying to do it.
