I think the Regenerartion one Dark Matrix creature should have time traveled back to past and changed events. The Dark Matrix Creature could have been shown in the future unhappy with the Autobots-Decepticon Peace Treaty. Perhaps the Dark Matrix Creature could have been revealed as a dark evil emotions TF war energy stealer that makes him absorb the TF war bad energy which makes him get more bigger & more powerful. The Dark Matrix creature could have prevented G-2 from happening in 1992 By time traveling back to the past & waking Megatron up earlier, supplying him with knowledge & healing him. The dark Matrix creature could have then been shown time traveling to the past & altering/seeding other key events that happened in regeneration like Soundwave,Shockwave, Scorponok,Bludgeon,Jhiaxus and so forth.
I thought Simon Furmans statement saying: "Lets all make believe The Marvel Generartion 2 comic never existed was lazy, horrible & incompetent".
This rant is coming from a Simon Furman Supporter not hater. The man had no excuse for a poorly done setup due to him having over 20 regenerations one comics issues to tell his tale. It just seemed like instead of closing loose ends, past stories & character resolves. Furman got overly carried away creating newer tales, newer loose ends & newer characters conflicts.

I like G2 as much as anybody. (Seriously, you might be the only person on this forum who likes it more than I do.)
But, Furman had to cut G2. Ultimately, G2 was Furman picking up an idea that he did not have a chance to use in the original series. The Cybertronian Empire of G2 was mentioned in "Another Time and Place". But, obviously, Furman did not think he would be writing much TF after "Another Time and Place". When he was called to work on "Generation 2", Furman likely saw a chance to use one of several threads he had to shelve at the end of G1.
"Re-Generation One", while truncated, was probably closer to what Furman intended to write for G1 20+ years ago than G2 was, despite the fact G2 was written with less time-lag.
