April Hauls
Really? Over halfway through the month? Geez.
Anyway, last week it was TF:G Whirl, great figure; and Star Wars 6" Luke Bespin, only so-so figure.
This week it's comics, Windblade #1 and The Star Wars 7.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: April Hauls
I swear there's an embargo on new Generations here, I haven't seen any Deluxes AT ALL on pegs in months, Legends never got past the Starscream/Megatron wave, and the same group of Springer/Sandstorm/Blaster/Blitzwing Voyagers has been sitting on shelves for months now. I just want Rhinox and Whirl, dangit!
Anyway, did get some toyage the other day: the sale at BBTS yielded Takara's Generations 'Senator' Ratbat and the GI Joe Retaliation Data Viper. Both are figures I've been coveting for some time, Ratbat for his snazzy near-metallic purple coloration and keen homage, and Data Viper for just looking cool as hell (even if I'm not too into Joes these days).
We really need more politician TFs. Maybe we'll never get Xaaron, but Ratbat's nice to have. I hardly even give him his gun(s), those hands need to stay open for gesticulating during speeches!

Re: April Hauls
TRU by me had a ton of Whirl and Rhinox today. I think it's Target and WM that aren't shelving anything in the first quarter at this point.
We got a Xaaron of sorts, the combined version of the Wreckers Generations figures, Ruination, has his head.

Yeah, I saw the remains of a new Generations wave at my local TRU the other week, so I had a hunch they'd show up there. That 'local' TRU is still across town for me though, so checking it out regularly isn't easy to do.JediTricks wrote:TRU by me had a ton of Whirl and Rhinox today. There's something inherently amusing about a democratically-elected official literally being a 'body of the people', as it were.We got a Xaaron of sorts, the combined version of the Wreckers Generations figures, Ruination, has his head.

Re: April Hauls
Ok, so birthday hauls! Can't believe we're half a month into this and I haven't posted any of these yet.
Star Wars lenticular frame motion book. Hard to describe but cool as hell. As you turn the page, the image moves.
Wreck-it Ralph on dvd. Because Wreck-it Ralph.
Transformers bags of varying sizes. Made by one of my friends.
Star Tours Droids gift set #2. Bought while we were in Disneyland and given to me now.
Cards Against Humanity. Kind of like Apples to Apples only more disturbing.
I've seen a few deluxes here but it's mostly just Skywarp and Thundercracker. Video game version. Not bad, but not the bots I'm looking for.
Oh yeah, other stuff I've just bought: Alternators Shockwave and Classics Starscream. Found them for cheap and went for it.

Re: April Hauls
So I had a Masonic thing tonight which I got to choose the theme for. I chose Star Wars. As such, there was Star Wars hauls! (Oh NO! An Exclamation mark!)
Star Wars pillow, Darth Vader Mr. Potatohead... thingy, balloons, a SW Backpack,
And that's all I can think of for now. It was a fun evening.
Also, Prowl's comment made me laugh too. And thoughtful, I never really thought of a merge group as the ultimate expression of democracy before.

Re: April Hauls
Rhinox and Whirl, what-what!
Finally found 'em, one of each, at the Target downtown a few blocks away from that aforementioned TRU. Both are pretty cool, though I like Rhinox a bit more. Whoever designed it is pretty clearly a huge fan of Rhinox, specifically from the cartoon. It's not perfect, there's little niggles like the elbow-slides not locking, the grip on the guns being loose (particularly when he's holding them in the proper 'upside-down' orientation) and weird stuff like him having fake kibble-armor on his upper legs because the show model had that because the original toy had that (kinda like my big issue with Generations Waspinator, though not as pronounced), but overall it's a remarkably solid figure of a character I never really expected to get such a thing. Which means, knowing Hasbro, they'll shit all over this thing and the people that bought it by releasing a 'new, better' Rhinox toy just five or six years from now.
EDIT: I was wrong about a few of these things. The elbow sliders DO click into place, and looking at screencaps, Rhinox didn't hold his guns 'upside-down' in the show, no idea where I got that from. Never trust your memories, kids!
Whirl's cool too, though odd. True to his origins, he just feels *so different* from most other TFs, particularly with the old-school inclusions like the decals and the lumps of solid, multi-connectible weapon bits. He's cool and expressive in robot mode, but his vehicle mode has the thighs up front really cluttering and wrecking the look of that mode, but overall he ain't bad. And of course I'm not even touching the 'upper' joints in his knees, hearing how dangerously-breakable those can be.

Re: April Hauls
I think this might stem from the toy compared to the cartoon. The original toy's mace-windmill-blade-thing, in Rhinox's hand, would face upwards towards the sky, whereas in the cartoon they pointed forward (because they were guns). So, you remembered that the guns were held differently in the different media.looking at screencaps, Rhinox didn't hold his guns 'upside-down' in the show, no idea where I got that from. Re: April Hauls
I bought Doctor Who The Web of Fear on DVD today. So awesome to finally have it on DVD, and the quality is vastly better than the ITunes video.
