Takara Tomy Toyota FJ Cruiser Optimus Prime in the Works

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

My 2 cents: I'm just not fond of Optimus Primes that don't have a truck-cab-vehicle mode. I don't need to own every Optimus New mold,So this one is a easy pass. This Vehicle mode seems kinda dull/lackluster & just doesn't fit the G-1 Optimus persona/skills/leadership role.

The asking price is 3,780 yen, when put through a Currency Exchange Rate Conversion Calculator,The USA exchange rate is $40. So this can be either deluxe sized or Voyager sized. Trying to figure out a size scale based off the price is hard as the Alternity TF toys were over 3,780 yen while the Binal-Tech around the Alternity Yen prices.

First images. Looks like it'll be a remote controlled self-transforming toy. The concept art looks decent but the toy itself... not so much.

I can safely say he's better than NIKE Optimus. . . which ain't saying much. Easy pass. It just feels uninspired.

Too bad they went this route, I get it but they really took the wrong tack with that robot design. The FJ Cruiser is big and wide and powerful looking, also plasticky which is fairly TF. ;) But the figure they are showing it transform into looks so bad it's not worth talking about, it looks like an off-brand G1 ripoff line from 30 years ago.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

The concept art looks better than the actual figure. And the figure doesn't even look like it's fully transformed correctly, like that hatchback should open up to reveal more legs or something. Either way, it's an easy pass for me.

I'm glad this thing turned out to be a remote controlled transforming motorized toy. my guess is,Hasbro will probably pass on selling this thing to it's world wide distributors.

THREAD UPDATE: Their are newer pics on-line,That show the robot mode looking more like a new age TF action figure robot mode similar to what the Alterantors/BT/Alternity toys look like. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... ons/28188/

Apparently the toy is going to be released in various different colors. Some on-line fans are guessing their will be some assembly required like those Takara "Trans-scan" figures or those Takara TFP Minicons snap together kits.

My speculation is that it's un-likely Hasbro will be releasing this in the USA,As they've passed up on more awesome Takara Exclusive TF toys/lines in the past like Alternity,Robot Masters,GO & so forth

Looks a lot better than the prototype at least.

This figure gets more disapointing with every newer pics. http://tformers.com/transformers-optimu ... /news.html The figure is a bit smaller in height & mass compared to the average TF deluxe sized toy.

The robot mode looks a bit under sculpted & just doesn't look that great. It seems like the Vehicle mode took center stage in the sculpting process.
