Yeah Galvatron sucks for so many reasons, Straxus I didn't really have any problems with but... just wait till you get Perceptor.Almighty Unicron wrote:Dom was bitching to me about his transformation (I forced him to take a pic of every figure in both modes since I was buying them loose), but I actually find him fun to transform, which is something I can't say for many figures.JediTricks wrote:Nice, good pickups all around.Almighty Unicron wrote:Bulking up my collections of Generations/Universe/RTS/Classics/whatever
Bought Darkmount, Rodimus and Laser Prime off Dom, and got Galv in an ebay action, and I'm waiting on Perceptor from 'Slaught. Feels good man.
I sorta kinda regret not getting Laser Prime too, especially after Hasbro let the OTFCC steal the Scourge repaint.
Galvatron and Straxus, on the otherhand, are a bitch and a fucking half to transform and things keep poppin' off.

I've been spoiled by sticking to "Main Line" (meaning: ArmEnerTron) toys for most of my adult collecting life. Some of these things are really unfun to transform.
If I were the design poobah at Habsor, I'd mandate that only a certain number of joints may be used in transformation.

There's a balance that can be reached, I feel. Warpath, for example, is great. HFTD Terradive, ROTF Bludgeon, Generations Wreck-Gar, Wheeljack, Tracks, they all nail it.

Re: July Hauls!
Warpath has one of the most excellently-executed transformations in recent memory, that thing is seriously terrific.
I've seen a few people complain about StraxMount's transformation, but that's one I've never had any problems with, for whatever reason (could be similar to how Six had no issue with Cybertron Soundwave while everyone else was griping about that mold). I will admit that Galvatron is insanely complex for his size class, maybe too much so, but I don't mind. I dunno, I like complex transformations (though even I have my limit, and ROTF Mixmaster is it, BTW).
Anyway, I found Beast Hunters Megatron, and grabbed him because I am weak (and because I was paying with a gift card, so I could justify it anyway). First off, the plastic on this thing is seriously nicer than the airy, cheap-feeling stuff I had such an issue with on the original TFPrime Megatron. No clear plastic or light-up gimmick this time, but the colors he has are wonderful, the brown and deep blue with purples all sings together. The sharky Decepticon symbol is cute too, for whatever reason it's there for. His back/chest section doesn't hold together as well in robot mode as the original version, but the back actually feels less kibbled up, and the vehicle mode actually looks cooler and more worth going to, and has a couple more stabilizing tabs keeping everything together besides. The weapon is damn cool, rather than just being a motion-gimmick thing like the other BH weapons, it's a more MechTech-ish shark-gun ('Fishion Cannon'?) that spring-slides and flips to become a bladestaffthing without even taking it out of his hand. I dunno, the way it works feels very...toku (kinda like Kamen Rider Wizard's WizarSwordGun), and it definitely appeals.

I've been keeping my eye peeled for Sharkticon Megs. Where are you located? It takes a while for product to hit the east coast most of the time.BWprowl wrote:Warpath has one of the most excellently-executed transformations in recent memory, that thing is seriously terrific.

I'm over in central California, yeah we tend to get things a touch earlier. The SharkMegs I found at Target was the only one amongst the pile of fellow Voyagers Ultra Magnus and Grimwing, so I don't know if Megs is shortpacked or what. One thing to look out for is that the Targets in my area at least just did a toy section reset, shuffling the position of things around the aisle, so you might need to wait for that to go through at your local locations before they actually put the new stuff out.Almighty Unicron wrote:I've been keeping my eye peeled for Sharkticon Megs. Wait, not 'SharkMegs', he should be called 'Megalotron'! Brilliant!

Dom bitches a lot, he singles out tiny things and focuses on them heavily to the detriment of anything else.Almighty Unicron wrote:Dom was bitching to me about his transformation (I forced him to take a pic of every figure in both modes since I was buying them loose), but I actually find him fun to transform, which is something I can't say for many figures.

Galvatron is overly fiddly and requires precise engagement. Straxus I just don't remember being one way or another.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: July Hauls!
Package from Dom came in yesterday with several Kreo bits. There was enough to complete Devastator and Bruticus and several other pieces. Also a couple of comics.

Re: July Hauls!
Nice find today. While at the comic shop to pick up Regeneration One #93, I browsed through the half price trades rack and found the Golden Age Flash archives, volume 2. Those archives are normally $50, so getting one for $25 is a good deal. Jay Garrick is one of my favorite characters, though I'll admit that I've read very few actual Golden Age comics to feature him, so I have little doubt that the Flash of the 1940s will be quite a bit different than the one I read in the 90s through 2011. He's one of the few characters from DC to age in real time, even if his abilities did allow a nearly 100 year old man to still physically be in his 40s or 50s. I'm very interested to read about him in his prime.
