Tomy,Releasing newer Pokemon toys in USA is ODD.
It's ODD for several reasons below:
1- The agreement that Takara-Tomy & Hasbro that's been in place for decades. has prevented Hasbro from selling their TF toys & other Hasbro toy brands in Japan. This worked both ways as it prevented Takara from selling TF toys & their other brands in America.
1a- We don't ever want to see the scenario in the USA for the TF toys, that is allowed to happen in those Asian countries & Australia,Where both Hasbro & Takara-Tomy for decades are equally allowed to stock stores with Hasbro TF toys & Takara-Tomy TF toys in the same asia/austraila stores in direct competition for sales
2- This no doubt puts Tomy in a unique position to sell their other brands in the USA. in a attempt to become a fierce rival like Bandai USA is. Pokemon could be the launching point to test the waters & contract agreements set in place long ago by Hasbro & Takara-Tomy.
3- Hasbro at one point in time was the USA Distributor of the pokemon toy liscense in America. So having tomy now have the partial or full pokemon USA toy liscense now makes Tomy & USA rival in the USA. As the pokemon toy line is in competition with the TF toys sales.
4- Hasbro worse fears is that Tomy because a major sales rival in the USA like Bandai USA is. If Tomy decides to release other toy lines in the USA in the volume that Bandai does,This will no doubt be a doomsday for Hasbro.
5- Why does Hasbro allow Takara/Tomy to get away with so much,If hasbro pulled this stunt,Takara would'nt tolerate it.
6- I don't ever want to see a Tomy-USA lik the Bandai-Usa.
7- If Tomy ever does a Tomy-USA & goes full force with being allowed to sell their other brands in America. This all will no doubt steal profits sales away from hasbro,as their competiting for the parents/kids money via puchases in the USA stores.
7a- If Tomy-USA becomes big in the USA like Bandai-USA. Will this put Tomy in the unique position to attemp to sell different brand TF toys in America that Hasbro didn't want examples; Alternity,GO-Combiners,
7b- Since Hasbro had to make a deal with Tomy for Kreo. Which basically allowed Tomy to sell the Kreo toys in Japan under their tomy banner. Shouldn't this deal/relationship work both ways, with Tomy asking hasbro if their interested in putting their hasbro stamp on other tomy owns toys/brands for a USA release?

This thread displays such a fundamental misunderstanding of how corporations work that it's not even funny, it's scary.
Tomy existed for years before they merged with Takara. Tomy produced toys in America before. So did Takara. It's not like just because Tomy and Hasbro have a deal in place for Transformers that suddenly EVERYTHING the two companies do is somehow related.
If I make a CD, and you and I make a deal for you to sell the CD exclusively in your store (here an analog for a country), then that means I can't sell the CD anywhere else. But if I make a t-shirt, I can sell that t-shirt anywhere I want, because it's a completely unrelated product and the original agreement doesn't pertain to it.

I realize Tomy was around before they merged with Takara.Onslaught Six wrote:This thread displays such a fundamental misunderstanding of how corporations work that it's not even funny, it's scary.

I am well aware that Tomy before the merger with takara,Tomy decades ago did release their products in the USA stores. I was referring to the present day contract that got set in place with Hasbro & Tomy-Takara.
I also notice Hasbro is not allowed to sell any of it's other products in Japan with the Hasbro logo on the packaging. Hasbro sells all of it's products world wide-minus japan.
Point of this thread is if the Takara-Tomy contract with Hasbro prevents Hasbro from selling their "other" Hasbro products in Japan,It should go both ways that prevents Tomy-Takara from selling their "other" stuff with their logo on the packaging in USA. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE HASBRO HAS TO OBEY ALL THESE RULES GIVEN TO THEM BY TOMY-TAKARA,YET THOSE SAME RULES DON'T APPLY TO TAKARA-TOMY.

If Hasbro signed a contract that says that, then that's what they do.Tigermegatron wrote:I also notice Hasbro is not allowed to sell any of it's other products in Japan with the Hasbro logo on the packaging. Hasbro sells all of it's products world wide-minus japan.

It's worth noting, mind you, that Hasbro recently made a deal with Hot Toys to sell SW stuff in Japan, though. I think it's not a case of Hasbro "not being allowed" to sell their products in Japan, but them deciding that most of their shit isn't worth selling over there. (For example, the various Marvel characters all have Japanese equivalent toys being made over there--there's no reason for Hasbro to sell Marvel Universe or the Avengers line there because there's already a line for that.)
